INTERVIEW

Tax season is just about wrapping up and I thought it might be a good idea to talk to one of those people you see on the roadsides in the Statue of Liberty costumes encouraging people to come in and get their taxes done.
Q: How many years have you been doing this?
A: Three years now.
Q: Same location?
A: I was in South Side the first year but then they moved me down to the Wilkes Barre area closer to home.
Q: How’d you find out about the job?
A: My mom was a tax preparer for them. I tried to do the paperwork but I like the fresh air.
Q:This is seasonal, what else do you do?
A: Uh I’m a student in Criminal Justice but I also do stuff at night at the Casino working in an undisclosed location.
Q: Why don’t you tell me the department?
A: Cuz I don’t want people to know I’m doing this.
Q: Why not? My dad used to say any work is honorable?
A: Yeah but I don’t think he’d want to be walking around like the freakin’ statue of Liberty hawking taxes. I mean if people don’t know they need to pay taxes, my God.
Q: How long will you continue to do this?
A: Until I get a full time job.
Q: Pay all right?
A: Yeah, I mean I just hang out every day. I’m in pretty good shape so the standing doesn’t bother me.
Q: Worst part of your job?
A: The cold weather, the slop, sometimes I get tired and thinking what did I ever do wrong to be doing a job like this at 29. But then I hear about so many people without jobs and I’m grateful.
Q: The best part of your job?
A: Two things, number one I can goof off under the suit, wave my arms, jump up and down, act like a maniac and get a cardio done and get paid for it. The best part though is……………
Q: Yes?
A: April 16th. When it’s over!!!

The Munch/Cordaro trial is off until October. Does that mean we wont find out who the alledged 9 companies are who bribed the two Republican Commissioners? Does that mean those companies will continue doing business with the County? A speedy trial would have been good in this case, but clearly thats not to be the case!
Meanwhile the people of Lackawanna County are served by one Commissioner under indictment and one who no longer wants the job! It causes me to wonder if we need Commissioners in the first place.
Right now they are both a distraction as Mike Washo the reluctant politician is the only one with the best interest of the people at heart. AJ is preparing a defense and Obrien is doing what he does best, campaigning! Once again we lose.

Obviously you don't understand. There is no crime in LuLac Land for offering or paying a bribe. The crime is in not having the moral strength to "just say no" ..... what a joke! So the Feds continue to protect the bribsters and allow them to continue to do business with our local government. The Feds need to be indicted for covering up crime(s).
