PHOTO INDEX: BIG WINNERS IN CALIFORNIA, CARLY FIORINA AND MEG WHITMAN, TWO FORMER CEOS TURNED POLITICOS.

CALIFORNIA GIRLS

California Republicans took an historic step Tuesday by nominating two wealthy businesswomen to challenge Democratic icons for governor and U.S. Senate, setting in motion an election season of big-money campaigns and high-stakes in the nation's most populous state. Meg Whitman
, the billionaire former eBay chief executive, easily won the Republican primary for California governor while former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO Carly Fiorina was nominated to challenge Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in the fall. Fiorina was the person that I was sure John McCain would pick to be his running mate. She was also a visitor to the area touting McCain’s campaign. It is the first time the California Republican Party has put a woman , much less a duo, at the top of the ticket. Former Governor Jerry Brown who succeeded Ronald Reagan as Governor in the 70s won the Democratic primary for Governor. Brown was Mayor of Oakland as well as being the current Attorney General. Brown ran for President in 1976 and 1980 and in 1992. In 1992 Brown actually carried Luzerne County in the Pennsylvania primary.

God I hate to say it, but if these women win, Sarah Palin will have a legit shot at the presidency. For those who don't understand what she is doing, read up on history. When Ronald Reagan lost to Ford in 1976, he went stumping for other candidates helping them win, in turn setting up an organization of winners throughout the country. I know many think she isn't to bright, but you are all so wrong. This person is a shrewd politician, and with the President consistently messing up she may be the first female president.

I'M A BIT OLDER THAN YOU AND YOU'LL SEE THIS IN OUR SERIES 1966. RICHARD NIXON DID THE SAME THING THAT YEAR AND FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES HAD THE 1968 GOP NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT LOCKED UP BY LATE 1967 FOR HIS EFFORTS ON BEHALF OF REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES.
