INTERVIEW

This week I talked to a life long Republican who reacted to the news that Steve Urban switched his party from Republican to Democrat.
Q: Were you surprised?
A: No, he really always was a lone wolf. Ran by himself.
Q: I admire survival instinct. The GOP really is only gaining a foothold locally.
A: Yeah but he was a out for himself.
Q: But he is a politician. I think he felt he could do the best job and that’s why he put distance between himself and the running mates. Other Republicans did it in the past, Ethel Price, Steve Yanoshak.
A: Yeah, yeah.
Q: What do you think his next move will be?
I think he’s going to go after a seat on the County Council. He’s an opportunist.
Q: I’m not arguing here with you but if he were an opportunist, why wouldn’t he stay a Republican and try to land a state job with the new administration?
A: Maybe they don’t like him.
Q: He and Frank Scavo ran State Senate campaigns against two Senators under clouds. And yet the GOP didn’t give them any backing. Don’t you think he had a right to be peeved?
A: Yeah, hey you defending him?
Q: No, I’m just pointing out the facts.
A: I get all the facts on need from Rush Limbo.
Q: Limbaugh.
A: Yeah that’s him.
Q: Are all Republicans like you?
A: I should certainly hope so.
Q: Yeah, I think Urban and I would agree with you on that statement.
A: Thank you.
Q: You’re very welcome.

Okay, I don't know any republican with a brain who would claim all their news from Rush Limbaugh. Either this person is a total tool or you made this one up...

As far as no support for Urban, that has happened in the past with good republican candidates. He is not the first one to get the screws from local "republicans" who are more vested in keeping a dem in office.

Meuser comes to mind as a guy who gave to Kanjo many times when he had a republican challenger and then the guy runs for office as a republican.
As far as a republican foothold, that was mostly due to local scandals and discontent with dems, that was capitalized on by candidates and Renita Fennick.

With Renita gone as exec director it will be worth seeing if they replace her with anyone good.

As far as candidates holding on, that will depend on redistricting for congress and who the dems run against the incumbent freshman.

Well Yonk,

I'm sure that interview wasn't held with anyone's whose last name was Flack, or Meuser, or Marino, or that clown that beat Meuser (Hackett?)- The GOP is very heady right now, having won some seats they had no business to considering what needs to be done to right the economy. Corbett is the biggest clown- No tax on the Marsallas Gas fields? Considering that what is presently happening is due to a GOP adminstration, the GOP needs to get of their heads out of their azzes and figure out how to get the economy rolling again, since the Democrats can't come up with anything to keep the GOP from saying "NO", and keeping China off our backs and from eating our lunch.....

Yonki's interview segments are pretty funny. One of the most frustrating things about knowing him in high school and semi dating him was the fact that he talked with EVERYBODY". It's fascinating now but it was a drag back then. Young, old, witless, toothless, he'd talk to them all. Glad he finally has an outlet to share all that crap stored in that brain.

YOUR KOMOTION DATE FROM DURYEA

Urban has always been a goof. He is full of theatrics but has little substance. It's easy to be the minority commissioner because you can pick and choose the issues that are win / win and complain about all else. Perhaps that is why he doesn't get the resounding support, he is NOT a leader. I'm really not sure what he would do if he were to be the lead dog, let's say mayor of W-B. I really don't think he has the brains to actually run an organization.

Anon 1:35pm while you may be correct to a degree. Urban was trying to sound the alert about the juvy dention center for years.

Urban followed Steve Flood's lead on sounding the alert about the Juvie Center. Flood's successor Controller Petrilla dropped the ball on that one.(edited ) Once again Urban just provided the theatrics after Flood provided the lead. Urban has not totally supported Griffith, the current Controller, perhaps because he's been auditioning for his new Democratic role. Maybe we can start calling him "The Situation," Luzerne County's answer to the Jersey Shore reality show.
