PHOTO INDEX: SCENES FROM PEARL HARBOR, 1941.

PEARL HARBOR DAY

69 years ago today the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The veterans of that conflict., hell World War are dwindling in numbers that are both hard and easy to comprehend. It is a day we should never forget. Kudos to Sue Henry for her eloquent and passionate description of the historic day on her program today. Her point about whether Americans would rally around a President today, like they did with FDR is worth pondering.

ELIZABETH EDWARDS

The public and complicated life of Elizabeth Edwards ended today when she died of cancer at the age of 61. An accomplished lawyer and person in her own right, she will be forever linked to the foibles and inadequacies of her husband John Edwards. That is a real part of the tragedy. Tomorrow in “Write On Wednesday”, we’ll feature a very good article on her passing and what it means to American politics.

Maybe I'm amazed ... Not ONE single show on the history channel or the military channel dealing with pearl harbor. How things change!
