MAYBE I'M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that there seems to be an epidemic of abuse of children the last few weeks. Or maybe all the cases investigated are just coming to fruition. But it seemed like every news broadcast this week featured a child getting sexually abused, a baby being beaten or shaken or just some other kind of ugly incident. I mean is this who we are as a society here? Will we be known as the area that sure as hell knows how to make babies but are clueless how to raise them? And if we are clueless, and can’t raise them, do we just kill them?
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that in the race for Attorney General, Patrick Murphy does not have a law license in the state? The guy is a decorated veteran and great candidate in terms of personality and presentation. But if the Democrats finally want to win the Attorney General’s race (since the office became an elected one in 1980 no Democrat has won it) there better be some pretty good talking points to combat this.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that the Luzerne County Council is ready to make an offer to a candidate so soon. The name has not been released. But if the person takes the job, how long will it be before he gets here and more importantly how long is he going to stay.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that the union officials in the County Courthouse didn’t come up with the furlough solution themselves rather than have someone suggest it to them. Furlough days are being used all over the country to make up budget cuts so people don’t get laid off. It will be interesting to see how this suggestion pans out.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that there are many Conservative Republicans willing to give Newt Gingrich a pass on the three wives. Although James Dotson from “Focus On the Family” all but called Newt’s #3 a harlot by committing adultery with Newt while he was married to his second wife. The “Open Marriage” thing to me is hysterical, the only time that ever comes up is when a guy gets caught. It’s kind of like that pass Doug Flutie threw when he was at Boston College for a touchdown, all the stars have to be aligned just right.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that A.J. Munchak has gotten more legal help before his sentencing on the 30th. His new Attorney will join Chris Powell in trying to keep A.J.’s prison sentence lower than Bob Cordaro’s. Attorney Lisa Mathewson officially entered the case on Wednesday. Will her late entry buy Munchak more time?
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that it took an intervention by the acting manager of the County to settle the dispute between Sheriff John Gilligan and Walter Griffith on a dispute of forfeited weapons. Manager Tom Pribula ruled in Griffith’;s favor citing the charter language which read, the controller "shall have access to and may inspect all County property, equipment, and facilities." Griffith said he wants to audit the guns obtained protection-from-abuse orders to see if any have been damaged or are missing. Fair enough Walter but how are you doing on all those backed up audits in the Controller’s office? I haven’t heard anything about how that’s progressing.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that there is such a big deal being made of Rick Santorum’s sweater vest. I own two and wear them to keep warm. When you’re stuck in Iowa for a year, you need something like that because winter starts after Labor Day there.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that people were surprised and outraged by John King’s question to Newt Gingrich about the 3 wives and Gingrich’s reaction to it. Both guys knew exactly what they were doing to do and do. It was kind of like watching the WWE. Except these guys had no written script to make it all the more authentic.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED….that they say “American Idol” is finally slipping in the ratings. You think? The show is a rip off of Ted Mack Amateur Hour and I’m sorry the show is woefully predictable. I can tell you the format, the way it will pan out and I’ve never ever seen it.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that the NFL Playoff are sometimes better than the Super Bowl. With my Pack out of it, I’m going with the Patriots over Baltimore and San Francisco just getting by the Giants. One of my favorite cities is San Francisco ( as well as Mrs. LuLac’s) so I’m rooting for the 49ers.

I think the video was in poor taste and is indicative of your own moral shortcomings!!! San Francisco and those who like the city are doomed for hell. You've been warned.

Young chickadees don't necessarily like new music. Read pages 156-157 of "A Radio Story".

Yonk, it is my understanding that Murphy does have a PA license but he didn't have to take the pA Bar examine. He passed it where he went to school and it was honored in PA.

You cant believe the bnion did not come up with the fourlough solution.. What? The union should suggest people get laid off? I never knew there was a difference between a lay off and a furlough.

I'm surprised that Pribula was not wise enough to ask for a legal opinion before he "ruled" in Griffith's favor. There is such a thing as preserving the chain of evidence and having Controller staff going thru the weapons, just shot (excuse the pun) the chain of evidence all to hell.

PA does NOT have reciprocity when it comes to professional licensure.

4:00, Sorry but you need to check Pennsylvania reciprocity agreements with other states. Many Pennsylvania licenses enjoy reciprocity with other states and visa versa. There is even a method for out of state attorneys to apply for a limited license to cover specific parts of the law.

Could be, but PA is one of the worst states for reciprocity, don't want to give up the money it costs to take the exam. They do have grant temporary status on a case by case basis.
