The LuLac Edition #2255, November 7th, 2012

President Obama with family Wednesday morning.

OBAMA RE-ELECTED

Barack Obama has been re-elected President of the United States. After a very bitter campaign that was filled with a lot of distortions, swing states put Obama over the top. Obama gained his second term with a coalition of women, minorities and young voters. It was the same coalition that put him over the top in 2008. For the first time in American history, white men, once a staple of picking leaders in America are now firmly ensconced in the minority. Women put Obama over the top as well as outreach to Hispanics. The survey of voters as they leave polling places Tuesday shows six in 10 voters say the economy is the top issue facing the nation, with unemployment and rising prices hitting voters hard. But about half of voters say former President George W. Bush is more responsible for the economic downturn challenges than Obama, according to preliminary results of an exit poll conducted for The Associated Press. On Foreign Policy, Obama was given high marks among voters for his handling of foreign policy. Romney sought to raise questions about Obama's handling of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, but that early criticism boomeranged when he assailed the administration's response before it was known that the U.S. ambassador had been killed. There is going to be an investigation to see what happened and there will be consequences. The election was close but now that it is over, the work for a second term must begin. To my Conservative Republican friends out there, let me say this, President Obama will most likely disappoint me more than he will you in these next four years. This President is going to have to make serious compromises to reduce the debt of this country. Look for this President to leave office in 2017 more unpopular among people like me than you. This man is not a socialist. More than 1 million millionaires have been created by “this socialist President”. The second term begins this morning with an eye toward history. You may not realize it now, but the hard work begins now. And like the past campaign, it will be at times loud and noisy and hardly pretty, but purely American.

2012 ELECTION MVP

Bill Clinton.

HISTORICAL FACT

This is the first time since 1800 through 1824, that there are three successive 2 term Presidencies in a row. Clinton Bush and now Obama won second terms. The last time three Presidents in a row served two terms was Jefferson, Madison and Monroe.

CASEY RE-ELECTED

Senator Bob Casey got re-elected to a second term despite being outspent two to one by his opponent Tom Smith. Look for Smith to return in another race at another time.

KANE MAKES HISTORY TWICE

Kathleen Kane was elected attorney General. She becomes the first elected woman Attorney General as well as the first Democratic Attorney General since the office was reconfigured in 1980 to be an elective one.

McCORD ROMPS

Rob McCord the state Treasurer won reelection on Tuesday. He now becomes a favorite to seek the Governor’s office in 2014. Auditor General.

AUDITOR GENERAL’S RACE

Eugene DePasquale wins out over John Maher. Maher touted his qualifications as a CPA but the former Representative won out.

U.S. CONGRESS

10th Tom Marino gets reelected over Phil Schollo. 11th Lou Barletta wins over Democrat Gene Stilp. 17th Matt Cartwright over Laureen Cummings.

STATE HOUSE RACES

No surprises in the State House races. Incumbents Tarah Toohil (116th) Mik Carroll, (118th) Gerald Mullery (119th) and Phyllis Mundy (120tth). Despite stiff challenges from Ransom Young (116th) Rick Arnold (1119th) and Aaron Kaufer (120th) put up very good fights. In the 115th, the embattled Frank Farina won over Theresa Kane.

Thanks Dave for your excellent coverage on the election and the final outcome.
In regards to your statement about the president and not being popular when he leaves in 4 years. Remember only time will tell in regards to this. But as it looks now you probably are correct.

All I can say to the Evangelicals,
the Christian Right is THANK GOD!

The same to the mythical faux professor who we will not be hearing from again, right? He is probably off golfing with President Elect Romney. You set your arrogant self up for that one old man. Adios and DISMISSED!

A great night for the average American.

The GOP cheerleaders who blindly predicted a GOP victory despite the obvious polling information to the contrary might want to consider that they were wrong fro the same reason their party lost: they're in their own little echo chamber.

Try foregoiing Fox News for a year, eh?

"We are and will forever be The United States Of America". Pres. Obama was re-elected yesterday. Re-elected not just to be my President but our President. Our President for the next four years! Republicans in Congress can no longer say we have to get rid of him or govern with the goal to cause his defeat. Bloggers like Aggie or the Professor who mocked the President or Democrats in general and demeaned the Office of the President must now come to the realization that it is much better to work together to solve the problems our country faces than to obstruct or criticize for the sole purpose of winning an election.
With this in mind, l hope we can all come together as Americans and insist that our elected representatives compromise and work together without acrimony to keep The United States the greatest nation in the world for all its citizens.

it will be interesting to see if both sides get the message: WORK IT OUT. this contentious pontificating has gotten us nowhere. Now is the time for all good elected officials to come together and start thinking about the good of the country, not their own re-electability.

Wow, I wonder how the Professor is going to spin President Obama's re-election? After reading his revisionist history lectures and inaccurate predictions he will finally have to face reality. This will be new to him because he ignored or never responded when challenged on a historical fact or completely wrong prediction.
For all too many months he ended his fantasy rants and raves with "CLASS DISMISSED" Now the readers of this newsletter can now respond with YOU'RE FIRED!

This election was a total repudiation of Republican extremism and hate. The GOP tried to take this country back 50 years in progress and they failed miserably as I predicted. Marriage equality passed everywhere it was up for a vote at the ballot box. We have an LGBT Senator now, more gay Congressmen, and the first female Dem to hold the AG spot in PA. Historic night as well as increasing the D's presence in the Senate. Now we need to keep this going, and thin out the House GOP herd in two years. Congrats to all who made this possible, including my old boss, Bill Clinton.

President Obama will most likely disappoint me more than he will you in these next four years.

I tried to prevent that Yonk. Obama will now HAVE to admit that he can't blame the previous administration for the economy and will have to do something.

I'm not optimistic that a .2% (moving) margin in popular vote is a mandate.

Let's see if he was sincere. The cliff is getting closer.

Saw you on TV Tuesday. Holy smokes. I wish they could put WYLN everywhere. You guys were rocking. I really like it how you mixed it up with Tiffany Cloud, Elaine Curry (you guys were great defenders of the Democratic principles) and the anchorman who looked right out of central casting. Good job there.
It was also good to see you back with one of the best weather guys and hosts on PA Live. Dave Kuharchick is great and the segment was way too short. Now take a rest.

Nice job Professor. Wrong on everything including your President elect Romney rants! I can only hope we are done with you now and that you enjoy your retirement. Spend some time visiting the real world while you are at it and from all of us who voted for the President, You
Sir are dismissed permanently. You no longer need to keep us misinformed. We still have FOX News for that...

According to FOX it was a moral failure on the part of Americans not to elect Mitt Romney! This is not "our America". "Our America" is run by rich white guys and minorities, the less religious, young people, homosexuals and women are not supposed to have a voice. What has become of this Country? How dare they deny the predicted Romney landslide. This is what comes from freeing the slaves. In retrospect thats what started it all or so they seem to think.

Professor,

I think you owe me a dinner at your exclusive club. Are you a man of your word or as I suspect a phantom who cant be counted on? My table manners are pretty good and I wont embarass you in front of your fantasy friends. Also I do not drink alcohol. I will be glad to meet you at your convenience, but I will require some notice as I have a job and a very busy schedule. I ASSUME YOU REMEMBER YOUR OFFER, Sir. Perhaps we could extend an invitation to Dave Yonki to join us. I can also vouch for his table manners. I await your reply.

But Professor! You promised us a Romney victory! Could it be that you were wrong and talking about of your ass that whole time, or do you live in some microcosm fantasy bubble where no light from reality can get through and you actually believed your own BS? Perhaps you were just an internet troll, or a progressive making fun of out of touch wealthy conservatives through your ridiculousness. Suffice it to say, I'm very interested in seeing your reaction to the election.

I guess your prediction of "President-Elect Romney was more like "President-Reject Romney".
