The LuLac Edition #2259, November 10th, 2012

The late Sonny Bono and his wife, later successor Mary.

MARY, MARY

The Associated Press Reports that Mary Bono Mack, the widow of the late Congressman, TV star, singer song writer and apparently poor skier Sonny Bono, lost her bid for reelection on Friday, Democrat Raul Ruiz won the election. Ruiz,is a Harvard-educated physician ousted the seven-term GOP Rep. with nearly 7,300 more votes out of the approximately 180,000 cast. Bono Mack is the wife of Florida congressman Connie Mack. Mack also lost his election this year. The congressman had been gunning for U.S. Senate against Democrat Bill Nelson.Nelson prevailed as did President Obama in the Sunshine State. Look for this power couple to land jobs as lobbyists in D.C. Apparently for these two, the beat did not go on.

IGNORANT AND PROUD

You will never convince me that the hatred for the President wasn’t race inspired. I know, I’ll be accused of bringing up race but just explain to me just why this guy was opposed at every turn. Why seemingly normal people wished him the worst. When we elect a President, he is the President. The rantings and ridiculous crap on Facebook this week was mind boggling. A few of the people on my Facebook account are even past candidates and current officials of the Lackawanna County GOP. To be clear none of the postings I found on my Facebook account were anything near racist,  but it was all doom and gloom. However, one woman in California (the land of liberals) went on You Tube and posted her opinion on the President, his race and his safety. Normally I wouldn’t give this ignorant loser any credibility or recognition. But this is different than the millionaire’s tweets (you know the guy with the bad hair and multiple wives) on Twiiter. This is the face of young, white, America that has been bred on hatred and disrespect. Check this out and you tell me if there is not something wrong with this country.

RUSHING IN THE SHADOE

If you tuned in to WILK tonight to hear oldies and music trivia as well as interviews with major pop icons, you didn’t hear that. You heard Rush Limbaugh crying in his beer about the election. WILK is running Rush reruns. If you missed it, don’t worry. All of your Conservative friends will be parroting his nonsense as their own on Monday morning.

ANOTHER TEA PARTIER BITES THE DUST

The way people were talking about Allen West, well I thought he was the second coming of William F. Buckley or Barry Goldwater. Turns out this guy was just a big bag of noise. West trailed Democrat Patrick Murphy by 2500 votes. West decided he wanted a recount. It does appear though he lost. Many of the Tea Party candidates who won in 2010 did not do too well. West will most likely get a job on Fox News.

Looking back I remember Goldwater fondly although he scared the hell out of us at the time, Look what Johnson went on to do after stating he wasnt going to send American boys 10,000 miles from home. They were already there! He just sent more and more.
And yes Race is and always will be an issue.

David: No gloom and doom from my corner. All politics are local, so my focus will be building the GOP locally, and doing so in an inclusive manner. Time spent sulking is time wasted.

As to the President, I've disagreed with virtually everything he's done, but race never entered into it for me. I don't see white Presidents, black Presidents, purple Presidents or Klingon Presidents. I just see Presidents.

If he tries to ban chicken wings, however, all bets are off...

Gort - you're correct, this girl is over the top. But there are folks over the top on both sides of the isle. I never thought of Obama as black. A socialist yes, black no. And that's how the MAJORITY of those who oppose him feel. So please don't clump the entire right into this category

Jim, the Klingons dont have presidents. They have chancellors. In Star Trek, the only interstellar government that has a president is the Federation.

Just nitpicking. I'm a Trek purist.

Build the Republican Party? How determined are you to destroy the working class? It is obvious that the Republican Party has only one use for Republicans who are working class and that is to use them for votes and building a grass roots organization. I find it incredible that working class people join the BS of the Karl Rove, Koch brothers and Rush Limbaugh who so strongly support the likes of Erik Cantor, Paul Ryan, Speaker Boehner, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell in their effort to enslave the working class. How can you be serious knowing that they want to privatize Social Security and voucher Medicare? It was Romney's intent to kill FEMA and half of Florida voters supported him. Florida gets ore use of FEMA than any other state and they support the guy who wants to kill it. How the hell does the Republican mind work? Is this self-hate, self destruction or simply disillusionment? How do these people see themselves living in old age without Social Security or Medicare? I guess they are counting on the lottery.

It is painfully obvious that WILK is so hard nosed Republican that they seem to think that reruns of Rush Limbaugh is a good replacement of Shadoe. How wrong they are. Theirpr numbers are not all that high to begin with and now they will be even lower. Why don't they give Yonk a chance on the air? I think it would be refreshing to hear a little from the middle. Hey, that might be a great show title, A Little From The Middle with the Yonkster. Or given your feature year and the historical facts you put on Thursday’s blog interspersed with music, why not something like that?

Over the top, no Democrat I know of ever called for the assassination of a President. She should be criminally charged. She's another John Hinkley or Mark David Chapman waiting to happen!

Casey: I know. But they emigrate and their children might run one day. (When they emigrate, they can't bring their kar'takin through customs).

Anonymous: How can I be serious? Because I am a Republican that recognizes that sometimes change must come from the bottom up. Both parties have changed since I was a kid. The GOP must evolve if it wants to remain relevant on a national level. On a local level, it's up to folks like me to nudge that evolution along.

@Jim: Well, Worf had a dk'tagh knife on the Enterprise, and if that was in Federation space, I'm guessing it went through some sort of border checkpoint, likely at a Starbase. So, I'm guessing that weaponry like that would be considered "cultural" and that the UFP wouldn't necessarily prohibit it, but simply expect individuals to exercise self restraint and punish those that don't under Federation law...

...My goodness. I'm a dork...

@Casey: Those danged UFP TSA agents... asleep on the job, as usual! First thing you know, someone will smuggle a container of antimatter onto a passenger starliner...
