GOP Scranton Mayoral candidate Jim Mulligan's sign.

MULLIGAN ON THE MARCH

The Mulligan for Mayor campaign sent this release last week regarding their foe in the Mayor's race, Democrat Bill Courtwright. Scranton mayoral candidate Bill Courtright appeared on The David Madeira Show where he admitted he is not doing his job as tax collector. At the beginning of his interview, Courtright proudly says that he has cleaned up the Scranton tax office.have it pretty much straightened out (the Scranton tax office)." (SOURCE: The David Madeira Show, http://thedavidmadeirashow.com/2013/10/ep-328-hour-2-courtright-makes-his-case-for-mayor/, 21:55)However, under Courtright's leadership, his own employee was charged with dipping her hand into the taxpayer cash drawer."A call from a bank helped tip off the Scranton Single Tax Office that one of their employees dipped her hands into the taxpayers' cash register unnoticed, according to arrest papers. Michelle Finnerty, a former Scranton Single Tax Office employee, allegedly took a $2,357.87 cash payment from an unidentified taxpayer for property taxes in February 2011, deposited only $506.92, and pocketed the rest - $1,850.95, according to arrest papers filed by chief of detectives for the Lackawanna County district attorney's office Joseph Jordan." (SOURCE: "Scranton Single Tax Office Employee Charged With Dipping Into Taxpayer Cash Drawer," The Scranton Times-Tribune, August 7, 2012)Adding insult to injury, after stealing from the taxpayers in his office, Courtright even rewarded Ms. Finnerty by allowing her to collect unemployment benefits. And when pushed for how he would raise Scranton's revenue base, Courtright admitted that he hasn't done his job as tax collector."We have a lot of properties that there is no taxes... as tax collector I can tell ya they're not being paid." (SOURCE: The David Madeira Show, http://thedavidmadeirashow.com/2013/10/ep-328-hour-2-courtright-makes-his-case-for-mayor/, 34:55)So not only is Courtright unable to keep his own employees from stealing taxpayer dollars, he's unable to collect taxes. As Bill Courtright's own words prove, Scranton cannot afford Bill Courtright.

i dont expect this to be printed, lets face it Dave, you play your favorites like a valley west teacher..its not hard to figure out who will you really vote for because you give them so much press on this blog - no wonder why the times leader stopped doing endorsements..but i think most people are in agreement that the next wave to be elected for county council will be worse than we what we have in there now

i feel that if you cant have a political candidate over for dinner in your house.well.lets just say that i wouldnt even have a single one of these opportunists over a cup of coffee much less dinner

HERE'S THE THING ABOUT MY BLOG. I WILL GIVE PRESS TO THOSE WHO REACH OUT TO ME. THE ONLY PERSON'S MATERIAL I DID NOT USE WAS KATHY DOBASH'S RECENT LETTER TO THE EDITOR BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO PUT IT IN CONTEXT. I WILL NOT CHASE ANY CANDIDATE DOWN FOR INFORMATION BUT I WILL GLADLY PUT SOMETHING UP IF I GET SOMETHING. UNTIL I CAN PAY SALARIES FOR THIS THING, THAT WON'T HAPPEN. SO IF YOU ARE GUESSING WHO I'LL VOTE FOR BY WHAT I WRITE....THEN PLEASE DON'T BET YOUR HOUSE OR ANYTHING VALUABLE ON THAT.
no wonder why the times leader stopped doing endorsements.
THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET "OUT OF TOWN JASPERS" RUNNING A COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER. THEY'RE EITHER LAZY OR DON'T WANT TO BUILD THEIR CIRCULATION.

NEVER HAD A POLITICIAN OVER FOR DINNER OR COFFEE. I'M PRETTY BORING AND MRS. LULAC GETS HER COFFEE AT DUNKIN'.

I AM JUST GOING ON THE SCENE AND GETTING THEIR THOUGHTS. I STAND WITH NO CANDIDATE UNTIL I GO TO THE POLLING PLACE. I'VE ONLY ENDORSED ONE CANDIDATE IN THE SEVEN YEARS DOING THIS SITE AND THAT WAS MATT CARTWRIGHT.
