MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……..that a newlywed couple was charged with murdering a man in Central Pennsylvania. Apparently they were from the Carolinas and lured a guy from “Craig’s list” because they wanted to kill someone together. The man was brutally stabbed by the woman while the man in the back seat restrained him by the neck. The woman who was said to be a Craig’s list regular sold her services as a companion. This seemed okay to the new bridge groom because he said she wasn’t selling sex just company on line. So it was a deal breaker for him to have her not sell sex but murder was just fine. This is going to be a great Lifetime movie.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……the state of Alabama once financed the constriction of a bridge by holding a rooster auction. We here in Pennsylvania are so far behind the times! All we do is raise the taxes on gas!
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that a gold medal once won by Jesse Owens in the 1936 Olympics was auctioned off for 1 million dollars the other day.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….and thrilled that the old Sunday Night Hall of Fame program starring L.A. Tarone heard on WKAB in the 90s and in the oughts can now be heard online from 5 to 9pm (it’s regular time slot) at this web address, WISL1480.com. That show was one of the very best Oldies program right up there with Shadoe Steele’s on ‘KRZ.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that a 19 year old fella named Nasim was arrested for firing a rifle in the directions of a few Wilkes Barre policemen on Friday. What is amazing is that the punk wasn’t charged with attempted murder or does a cop have to have his arm blown off for that to happen? Checking the police blotter for the last year in Wilkes Barre and nothing on guys named Mario, Casmir or Colin aiming a sawed off gun at police. Just saying!
MAYBE I’M AMAZED………that the County Council with huge issues of debt is dealing with health care for same sex partners! Hey, I'm all for people zooming who whenever they want to but…….we got bigger things on our plate like a 400 million dollar debt.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that no one else except County Council member Edd Brominski seems to realize that we are giving away so many tax breaks to business through KOZ grants that the County seems to be a major supplier of corporate welfare. We bitch about the lady in line with food stamps buying her potato chips but don’t realize the millions being lost by kissing the asses of fat cat corporations who are profit heavy. All we get are 8 buck an hour jobs capped at 29 hours with no benefits. Like is Brominski the only one seeing this or is everyone else on that council not realizing this is a big deal?
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that Yankee Robinson Canoe decided to go to Seattle and leave the Yankees. Sure he’ll get more money but he’ll be buried on the West Coast and if he does get in the Hall, he’ll not have that Yankee cache. Bucks over tradition I guess. On another Yankee front, I’m also amazed that Phil Hughes,  once a Scranton/WB Yankee got 14 million bucks a year from the Twins. He didn’t even win 5 games this year. When I started to follow baseball as a kid, that record would get you a trip to the bushes and then driving a bakery truck.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that in one of the newspaper stories about the retirement of State Representative Phyllis Mundy, Attorney Laura Dennis intimated that she wants to run for elective office; she has to decide if the state legislature would be the best fit for her.
A good fit. This is not about choosing a pair of shoes, this is about public service. I mean did Mundy leave her job because she was looking for a better fit back in 1990? Did Nelsen Mandela think jail was a better fit, take some time out, chill a bit then maybe run for President? You want people representing you not because it is good for them but what is good for their friends and neighbors. A guy named Kennedy said that more than fifty years ago..”Ask not what your country can do………….forget it, just google it and see if it “fits”.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that when Sallie Mae made their big job expansion announcement the other day no one would tell any reporters on site what the wages for the jobs could be. L.A. Tarone asked, and Sara Buynovski from WNEP asked for a ballpark range of a starting salary. They were told “competitive”. Translation: going Chamber of Commerce rate: 9 bucks!

Yonki, what do you have against Laura Dennis? I think her considering if being a state representative would be a goo "fit" for her shows a level of concern not often showed by would be politicians. The woman has never held public office but hears the call loud and clear and you find fault that she actually murmured the words that she needed to consider the position before seeking it was out of order. Honest to goodness Yonk, sometimes I gotta wonder who the masked man is that rides through your kitchen on occasion and pees in your cereal. Stop giving the woman shots and give her a bit of a push. She is quality individual and bright enough to survive in the Harrisburg political jungle. Just sayin.
