In the world, populated by that 7.13 billion people 844 million guns are owned by civilians.
The guns owned by civilians in the United States is at 42%. (Steve Ratner, MSNBC News)
So no one has done anything to take away our guns. If anything gun sales have increased.
The stories I’ve heard on talk radio, both local and national about how the President wants to somehow nationalize a police force is absurd. No one has taken away any guns.
But here’s a question. If we have so many guns, why are we the country with the most gun violence? Aren’t guns supposed to protect us?
More news is coming out about the couple who killed people in California the other day. The two met on the internet. The male was born here, had a sweet job in California and seemed pretty quiet. But then he meets a woman on line, marries her in a mosque, brings her back home courtesy of a visa and they are supposed to live happily ever after, right?
70 k a year, the warm California sun and a baby daughter. Wifie has her burka firmly in place, hubbie prays at the mosque. Co workers say he wouldn’t say crap if he had a mouthful. But yet they find tons of ammunition and pipe bombs afterwards.
Not a conspiracy theorists like that a-hole Clyde heard midnights on a local radio station BUT what if this poor sap was influenced by a modern day Mata Hari? Could he have been targeted from the start?
A friend I went to King’s with used to get extensions on his finals. On Christmas Eve he’d be at the college radio station working on three papers at the same time. The only stress reliever he had was the vending machine down the hall selling coffee.
For those students at East Stroudsburg State who are stressing over exams, let me enlighten you about what is stressful in this life.
1. Trying to raise a disabled child.
2. Trying to be a single parent.
3. Not having a job.
4. Getting the crap beat out of you by a spouse.
5. Trying to pay your mortgage when money is tight.
6. Cancer.
7. Aging parents.
8. Faulty schools because some of the teachers, not all, are populated by recent underclassmen who were terrified by stress.
9. Fighting in a war.
10. Being a cop.
Speaking of war, there has been talk that perhaps we might need a lot of ground forces to eliminate ISIS. Can you imagine if we had a President who re instituted The Draft? Can you imagine the majority of young people getting drafted?
I can just see it now. “Stress” tents on the front lines and an Allergy free chow line!
Stress my ass.
Study, take the damn test and quit whining. And as far as the school enabling this, if I were Governor I’d cut their funding outright. That’ll show East Stroudsburg State College what stress really is all about!

when are we going to stop enabling these pampered, spoiled, entitled college "students". they who need safe places on campus because someone looks at them the wrong way. we are in sad shape when these babies get out in the real world.

Many of today's students have these stressors as well as trying to complete an education. In addition to working full time jobs and perhaps a part time job.
Some are in the guard and have seen battle and are dealing with the stress of what they had to do in combat.
Not everyone in college today is a spoiled **** like you generation, who had the ability to enter college directly after high school and had their parents foot the bill for their education.
Your world view is so limited, you think everyone's experience must parallel yours.
Have you noticed that much, not all, gun violence takes place in gun free zones?
Law abiding citizens don't bring weapons in these zones. Those intent on murder don't give a **** about the law, and are going to kill no matter what the law states.

I agree that there are students like that dealing with issues like that and I salute them. But that action to me by the University just reeked of self indulgence and giving a trophy to everyone for showing up.
I don't think there's many people in my generation, living in this area were spoiled.

Your world view is so limited, you think everyone's experience must parallel yours.
I'm using my experience only as a contrast. That's my frame of reference regarding higher education through the decades.
But let me tell you about my parallel experiences with this current crop of students.
When I went to LCCC for coding I was with many young people. Some were serious about their educations but just as many were offended when the teacher told them no texting, no cheating.
In the last 16 years I have worked primarily with people considerably younger. The work ethic has gone to crap.
Sorry, when you have to give gift cards out to people to show up to work on a Monday (won't say where this happened) or when a supervisor gives them a reprimand, said supervisor is perceived as "just being mean".
I wish the hell my work life as well as my experiences were "so limited".
Well you have to admit that there are two classes of kids today. One group who are left to shift for themselves and are essentially ignored by their parents.
Then there are those children that are overprotected to the point that they have no idea how to deal with the real world.
But the school had its head up its butt to even sanction this.
State school though so why the stress?
"Could he have been targeted from the start? "
I am perplexed at the need to discover who "radicalized" whom.
It is possible, and more than likely probable, that these two found one another because they were already anti-Christian/Jewish and pro ISIS.
One day we will realize, that the aim of Islam, like Christianity, is to spread to the entire globe. The only difference is Christ did not support, condone or advise violence, war and killing as an acceptable means to an ends; unfortunately, Mohamad not only supported it, he encouraged it.
The enemy believes that violence is the answer, that violence will not only bring about fear, but eradicate the infidels and they will not be convinced or reasoned with of any other option. And, the attempt to apply rational and reasoned thoughts and methods, to a situation or persons that are neither, is nothing more than a fool's errand.
While democrats went off on the gun issue from the moment of the attack against unarmed citizens, republicans waited just a bit longer, and their patience was rewarded with the reveal that we were once again attacked by terrorists.
This is not about gun violence, it isn't about mass murder, can't you see this was another battle in the war being waged against the US by a decentralized enemy who support, or are supported by, ISIS, ISIL, Al Qaeda, etc... The democrats, including the president and front-runner Hilary Clinton, jumping on the guns, which no proposed legislation would have prevented this pair from obtaining, showed once again they are ill equipped to handle the war in which we are currently involved, and under this president we are currently losing.
The enemy in this case, doesn't care what weapon they use; be it a gun, a knife, a pipe bomb, a car, or a jet airliner; they will find a way to kill, and the weak willed democrats will wring their hands and shout for stricter gun control legislation, missing the point of war. And not understanding that an effective weapon is one that will kill.
In political terms, what the US may need is a leader who is a perceived "cowboy," not willing to be bullied and one who doesn't take the battle deaths of US citizens as a crime, but rather an act of war.
This attack could be the point Donald Trump became president.

That is the best statement anyone has made on all of our Mideast incursions.

I have never seen a candidacy that has been so supported by the tide of current events. Just when you think what he supposes is outrageous, it happens in the news to confirm his rhetoric.
You may be right. The Soviets thought Reagan was crazy with the Star Wars program. Sometimes cowboys put more fear in you than needed.
While tonight's speech by the President was reasoned, it was not what many Americans wanted to here.
I think it's about time for Muslim control rather than more gun control. We have to stop turning a blind eye on this fact. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, it damn well must be a duck.
No president would ever re-institute the draft. Sadly, if we fought another ground war we would more than likely need one.
Most of our troops who fought in Iraq and are in Afghanistan are on their third or fourth tour. You can only retread tires so many times without them going bust.
And for all of the citizens calling for blood and military action, let's get real. Will you still do so if your precious little JOhnny or Mary are drafted into that scenario.?
And Mr. Trump, for all his bravado, would YOU SIR send you own sons over to do combat duty???
I think NOT.
We've become a nation of sunshine patriots and wussies--on all fronts.
And THANK GOD this present generation was not around when we had to fight WWII.
The swastika or rising sun would be flying over the White House and Capitol.
"If we have so many guns, why are we the country with the most gun violence?"
Says who? How is "gun violence" defined?
"Aren’t guns supposed to protect us?"
They do. Maybe the act of protection is counted as "gun violence". Aren't pharmaceuticals supposed to ease/cure our ills? Yet an overdose increases the controlled side effect and it goes from good to bad.
Why do the democrats launch the gun control missiles as a first response? I have read more quotes that reveal an incredible level of firearm ignorance by journalists and politicians alike. For chrissake folks at least go to Wikipedia!
Guns kill 11,000 a year. Cars kill 33,000 a year. What's the point?
According to the American Enterprise Institute "since 1993 private gun ownership has RISEN by 56% while gun homicides have FALLEN by 49%".
Guns don't kill thousands or millions at a pop so terrorists really don't care if their gun source dries up. Guns are so inefficient. They still have boxcutters, pressure cookers, car bombs, pipe bombs, sarin gas, small explosives hidden in underwear and shoes, bio-poisons.
Gun control doesn't resonate with terrorists so it won't control terrorists. Change course to address the radical islamic terrorist apocalyptic goal or we abdicate our battle for existence to fiends.
If only guns were the only thing the terrorists had.
