C.H.I.P. IN PERIL
Trump checks off CHIP as a priority. (Photo: www.independentco.uk)
The Children’s Health Insurance Program CHIP has been nudged out of the REPUBLICAN tax bill that was going to make America great for everyone. Now it still might get a reprieve as the GOP kicks the can down the road because they won't shut down the government. But the fact this is even being debated tells you a lot about this Trump/Republican party and what it stands for. Here’s what happened with CHIP.
On September 30, federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) expired. Congressional Republicans claimed that they didn’t want this to happen. The GOP had always supported CHIP, which provides insurance to the children of families who earn too much for Medicaid, but do not receive insurance through their employers. Republicans just got so caught up with trying to repeal Obamacare (a.k.a. trying to take health care away from millions of adults) that they forgot to preserve access to basic medical care for 9 million low-income children. Regardless, the public had no need to worry: States had enough money to keep CHIP running for the rest of the year, and Republicans would reauthorize the program with all due haste.
Nearly three months later, congressional Republicans got so caught up trying to cut taxes on corporations (while taking health care away from millions of adults), they haven’t quite found time to renew CHIP. And, according to Axios, they have no intention of doing so before heading home for the holidays:
The Senate is unlikely to address outstanding health care issues in the government spending bill that must pass by Friday, according to three senior GOP aides and a Democratic leadership aide. That means that a long-term CHIP funding bill, delays of the Affordable Care Act taxes and individual market stabilization are unlikely to be addressed until the new year.
Congressional Democrats implored Republicans Wednesday to pass new funding for CHIP before the Christmas break.
THEY SAID NO!
This is what Republicans do. I am not surprised. But this is my message to my Democratic friends who didn’t like either Bernie or Hillary. The women I know who have kids on CHIP and voted for Trump because of what they “heard”. The Seniors on Social Security who are fat and happy BUT have grand kids on CHIP. The families that benefited from CHIP and never voted.
This message is for you.
When an election happens, you must vote your own interest.
You must think of your family and where you get the help.
You can’t sit home and think you aren’t needed.
CHIP is not renewed primarily because of the REPUBLICAN mentality that we protect the kids in the womb but let them fend for themselves after coming out of that birth canal.
But by your decision of misplaced action, not doing research, listening to the loudmouth nothings who blather without facts, forgetting WHO got you this benefit, you helped too in this effort to defeat yourselves and your children.
Help fix it in 2018.  (CNN, LuLac)

IT MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN SEXUAL ASSAULT.....BUT SUSAN COLLINS GOT SCREWED!
(Photo: USA Today)
Maine Senator Susan Collins who never worked with President Obama when he was trying to put together a bi partisan health care bill decided to cast her lot with the Republican leadership. She voted for the Tax Bill TWICE because she was told concessions would be made for her health care interests. What happened?
One of the measures in question, from Senate Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander and Patty Murray would fund key ObamaCare payments to insurers for two years in exchange for additional flexibility for states to change ObamaCare rules. The other bill, from Collins, would provide funding known as “reinsurance” that helps pay for the costs of sick ObamaCare enrollees with the intent of bringing down premiums.
She got nothing! Fooled her twice, once. Fooled her twice again.
Sad excuse for someone who calls herself a “moderate”. Or a Senator. Gender, station in life, Collins was played for a fool. She has to know that a national REPUBLICAN never changes their stripes!

CARTWRIGHT ANNOUNCES $70,000 EDA GRANT TO NEPA ALLIANCE
Congressman Matt Cartwright (Photo: LuLac archives)
This might come as a shock to voters and constituents in the 10th and 11th District but there is actually a Congressman around here who brings money to HIS District. I know that a type of foreign thing to both Lou Barletta and Tom Marino but it’s true. This week U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the Economic Development Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA Alliance) received a $70,000 Cooperative Agreement grant for a partnership-planning project from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA).
This EDA grant supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the NEPA Alliance, which includes Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, and Schuylkill counties. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
“These funds advance our communities by bringing together public and private sectors to establish an economic development planning framework, process, and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region,” said Rep. Cartwright, a member of the Appropriations Committee. “I am proud to support programs that enhance economic expansion and generate family-sustaining jobs.”
“NEPA Alliance appreciates our partnership with Economic Development Administration (EDA) in providing regional economic development planning,” said Jeff Box, President and CEO of NEPA Alliance. “We greatly appreciate the support from Congressman Cartwright in our efforts to promote economic growth in Northeastern PA.”
As the only federal government agency focused exclusively on economic development, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) plays a critical role in facilitating regional economic development efforts in communities across the nation. The EDA investment policy is designed to establish a foundation for sustainable job growth and the building of durable regional economies throughout the United States. This foundation builds upon two key economic drivers - innovation and regional collaboration. The EDA encourages its partners around the country to develop initiatives that advance new ideas and creative approaches to address rapidly evolving economic conditions.

Collins didn't get screwed! She got something for her citizen FAR BETTER than a stupid health care program.

Congress voted Wednesday to open Alaska’s remote Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil and natural gas drilling, ending more than four decades of heated debate on the matter.

The House voted 224-201, mostly along party lines, to pass the Republicans’ tax overhaul bill, which has the ANWR drilling provision attached to it.

Too bad you are so programed.

I'm sorry I was so against Trump. He turned me around!!!
