The LuLac Edition #4,290, May 13th, 2020
One of our “Write Ons” this week is to County Manager David Pedri. This writer praises the work and leadership of Mr. Pedri.
Editor: I’d like to thank County Manager David Pedri for putting the health of county residents above politics with his decision to send mail-in applications to all the registered voters in Luzerne County.
He saw the risk placed on voters in Wisconsin by that state’s Republican Party and made the right call. People are scared of the coronavirus and shouldn’t have to choose between obeying the stay-at-home order or going to the polls and possibly contracting the virus.
Republican County Councilman Harry Haas was quoted as saying that if people can shop for essential items safely in stores, officials should be able to ensure the safety of voters at the polls on Election Day (April 23). Spoken like a true Trump supporter.
I doubt the Luzerne County Board of Elections has the same budget of Walmart or Target. Most of the people who work the polls are of the age that becoming infected with the virus could mean death.
I would hope that Mr. Haas would learn some leadership quality from Mr. Pedri.
