SPECIAL

ANNOUNCEMENT

FROM THE

REAL REPUBLICAN CHAIRMAN OF LUZERNE COUNTY’S REAL REPUBLICAN PARTY

 From the Desk of:

PJ Pribula

Chairman, Luzerne County Republican party

Fellow Republicans and Luzerne County Residents,

I write you today not only as The Chairman of The Luzerne County Republican Party but more importantly as a father and proud resident of Luzerne County who cares very much for this country’s future.

On August the 23, 2023, Seventy-nine years after Second Lieutenant Fred Brewer climbed into his P51 Mustang and took off from a base in Italy, his remains were finally identified and he was returned to his family for a military funeral. Lieutenant Brewer who was 23, was one of the famed Tuskegee Airmen who fought both racism and Hilter and their service and heroism was legendary.

On October 7, 2023, the Jewish people faced the largest mass killing since Lieutenant Brewer lost his life seventy-nine years ago fighting Adolph Hilter. Lieutenant Brewer and the Jewish people, both oppressed, one fighting to stop the hatred and another fleeing to survive a mass extermination. One would think that after all of this bigotry and bloodshed society would change and while it has for most, sadly it has not for all.

For those of you who knew my dad you know that he judged a person by their actions and not thru the prism of color, creed or ethnic lineage. I was raised to judge people in the same manner and be assured that on the rare occasion I drifted from this lesson I was reminded, and rightfully so. Treating people correctly is also not just about race but also about a persons religion, their sexual orientation and even their appearance.

In the days following 911, there wasn’t a house without an American flag and we stood united as Americans without concern for our differences. We stood together because we were Americans and everything else became secondary. Sadly, the unity that 911 instilled in each of us is fading.

To be clear, this country is being torn apart by the ten percent fringe on both the left and the right.  The eighty percent of Americans in the middle realize what this nation stands for. These are the men and women who get up each day, feed their kids, go to work and then to their kids baseball game or out for a drink with friends. These are the eighty percent who don’t judge people just because they don’t mirror their looks or beliefs. These are the eighty percent who don’t go through life stereotyping everyone based on their own self determined benchmarks.

The utter fiasco in Washington is a perfect example of the Republicans ten percent ruining it for everyone. Ninety-four percent of the republican delegation, elected by, “ we the people”, wanted Kevin McCarthy and eight members felt that they knew better. In this case it isn’t racism, it’s all about fitting into someone’s cookie cutter definition of a good republican.  This is the perhaps the scariest character fault, an absolutist. With these individuals there is no room for compromise, negotiation or common ground, only their belief is correct. Republicans aren’t alone, Democrats have the same issues with members who protest Israel defending itself while being silent when babies are being beheaded. Again, these are the ten percent, on both the Republican side and democrat side, that are pulling this country apart. The ten percent, the absolutists, are doing their best to build a wall, but it’s down the middle of the country and not at the Southern border.

As a resident of Luzerne county, I am truly fed up with the ten percent on both sides but today I want to address the ten percent that call themselves Republican. I am fed up with those self described activists and elected officials who are part of the ten percent and judge only thru their own special rose colored glasses. These are the individuals who, when they don’t get their own way, will resort to the darkest levels of humanity with no thought or concern for the damage caused. They will ridicule their opponents looks, question their sexuality, make racial slurs and flat out lie. In some cases these individuals moderate Facebook pages where the most outrageous attacks take place. Acting as a moderators, they allow attacks on anyone who does not fit their mold or stands in opposition to their desire to decide who stays on the island and who gets voted off. Their goal is to personally hurt opponents in an effort to dispatch them to cry in their pillow and never to return.

As Chairman of the Luzerne County Republican Party, I am tasked with finding good candidates and protecting the Republican brand. Some time ago, a person created a political organization and opted to name it, “The Luzerne County Republicans,LLC”, and appointed himself chairman. The name was obviously selected to breed great confusion. Every resident and every Republican in Luzerne County needs to realize that while the name is similar, the official Republican party and this group have nothing in common. The groups creator and self-proclaimed “Visionary” has created his own facebook page where the postings make it is clear that people of different “Cultures” are not welcome here. His beliefs would have suited him well in the 1800’s when the Irish, Polish, Italians and Catholics all faced the type of bigotry that he espouses today.

This visionary is not alone, defeated County Councilman Steve Urban moderates a Facebook page where as moderator, he allows personal attacks on individuals to go un-censored. These attacks, aimed at government employees, other Republicans and elected officials of all parties, routinely disparage ones looks, sexual orientation or faith.

The visionary leader shows up at events with a pop up tent with the wording Luzerne County Republicans embolden on its sides, selling T-Shirts, stickers, hats and signs with no sign of the sales being listed on the groups questionable financial reports, a matter that needs to be investigated by the Department of Revenue. The Visionary leader of the group presents himself at County Council meetings to voice his opinions and sadly, when his opinion is ignored, he resorts to making sexual hand signals or making vomit noises and he has been questioned by law enforcement for comments he made to election officials in the hallway of the voter services office.

He is definitely part of the ten percent and normally would not be worth the time or paper to discuss, but there are two items that make this situation different. The first, he has intentionally created a name for his group designed to confuse the electorate and perhaps more importantly, some have seen fit to tolerate  this group and it can no longer be ignored. In last Mays primary, then Councilman Steve Urban, past county council member and candidate Harry Haas and candidate Greg Griffith proudly stood with this group, accepting endorsements and wearing shirts advertising the groups name supplied by this visionary as if he were a real organization.

Harry Haas, who proudly accepted endorsements from the fake Republican group,  voted for tax increases while on County Council and while campaigning he chastised his Republican opponents who voted to raise taxes for the first time in four years calling it an un-necessary tax increase. This is the height of hypocrisy, while running for County Council and attacking the members who voted for a tax increase, Harry Haas is a teacher in the Dallas Area School District where his paycheck is funded from taxpayer dollars. To be clear, teachers aren’t paid enough in todays atmosphere but its beyond hypocritical to cast stones at the taxes that go to pay hard working county employees while supporting contracts that benefit him and accepting a paycheck funded by the same taxpayers, all while acting like he cares.  His acceptance of an endorsement from the fringe group also stands to raise serious questions when weighed against what this group stands for, and more importantly, the people it is openly intolerant of.

Fellow republicans, I have resisted this vocal call to sanity for too long and I was wrong. In Luzerne County, the Democrats once enjoyed an almost 50,000 registration advantage, today it has been cut to under 5,000. Here in Luzerne County we have won all of the statewide races in the last seven years with the exception of Senator Mastriano and Judicial Candidate Harry Smails. Until the fake Republican party opted to cause a split in the Republican vote last November, we held ten of the eleven County Council Seats. We also hold the District Attorney seat and the County Controller seat and we saw two amazing female republicans elected to the county bench two years ago. Luzerne County is also one of the only counties to have gained a Republican State House seat last year and yet, with all of this progress, the ten percent aren’t happy because we refuse to subscribe to their twisted values and desire to win by any means possible. Our fundraising over the past few years has enabled us to get our message out like never before and last year we were able to fund a county-wide mailer in support of our state-wide judges. The credit for the recent success of the Republican party here in Luzerne County goes to you, the voters, who agree with our message. I was a Democrat some 10 years ago and like so many republicans, I left the Democrat party because I no longer had anything in common with the party of my father but that certainly does not mean I should slit my neighbors tires if he is a Democrat. We need to remember that we attend the same churches, our children play on the same sports teams and when a neighbor is in trouble we run to their aid without first checking on their political affiliation, or at least the 80 percent does.

Make no mistakes, as The Luzerne County Republican Chairman together with the Republican Executive Committee we always stand with law enforcement, we always support our troops, we proudly pledge to the flag and we always stand for the National anthem. And to be crystal clear, you hit a brick wall with us if you don’t support prohibiting men in women sports, men in girls restrooms or teaching children subject matter not approved by their parents and a secure southern border is a must. Outside of that, this is America and I certainly do not want some visionary, his shill or his followers telling me I can’t be Catholic, any more than they should tell someone they can’t be gay or black or Jewish. Somewhere we must all understand that our first priority is realizing that we are all Americans and a person should be judged by the type of person they are and not a visionaries standards.

In this Aprils primary you will be asked to select Republican Committee representatives in every voting district. These individuals will represent you, the Republican voters, at conventions where the leadership of the party will be determined. Until today, there were three candidates for position of Luzerne County Republican Chairman, Myself, Gene Ziemba and Harry Haas. Mr. Ziemba is a shill for and being supported by the visionary and creator of the fake Luzerne County, LLC group and Harry Haas who proudly stood with the same group in last years elections. If a candidate for this office is willing to stand with this group given the statements and beliefs of its visionary leader and his followers, then they should never be allowed to sit in a leadership position within the party or in fact within government. Enough is enough!

As for me, I informed the executive committee on Monday that I would be tendering my resignation as Chairman of the real Luzerne County Republican Party. For two years, myself and my executive board have spent ninety percent of our time and resources fighting the ten percent because their twisted beliefs run contrary to what OUR Republican Party stands for. I am frankly tired and sickened by the battle with visionaries that don’t have a clue and who bring discredit to the party of Lincoln. Like all the twenty percent members, they realize that if they are deceitful enough, loud enough, obnoxious enough and demanding enough, they will find a path to the inside. Over the past few weeks, I have seen this group and their candidates making inroads I never would have believed possible and in seeing that, I realize that it is my time to go.

I would call on those Republicans willing to seek the office of Republican Committee to search your soul before you cast your vote for your next Republican Chairman. If you feel sledge hammer politics and intolerance is the best solution then these are your candidates, but if not, I ask that you listen to the voices at the convention and select a chairman who will govern for the good of the party and not the ten percent.

In closing, I want to thank Lieutenant Fred Brewer, and the four hundred thousand Americans, men and women, from every race, religion and ethnic background who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country in World War Two. These heroes fought for a flag and their belief in this great country, without regard for the color, religion or sexual orientation of the person fighting alongside. Its high time we push back on those individuals who’s idea of what this country stands for brings discredit to the sacrifices of so many.

I want to thank my family, the nine dedicated  members of my tremendous executive committee, our elected officials, our volunteers, our donors and my many friends who have always been at my side to support me. Most of all, I want to thank the voters who have agreed with our message. I will continue to be a strong supporter of the Republican Party and will, from this day forward, never again fail to call out the actions of those who can only hurt our party and our country.

God bless America, Luzerne County and the eighty percent.

Editor's note: Pribula sent the following social media posts that played a role in his decision to vacate this position. Pribula brought in more money, more registrations and more credibility to the Republican party in his tenure. The following posts you see are not reflective of his leadership, his executive team or for the most part members of proud Americans who call themselves traditional Republicans. In his e mail Pribula explained the following attachments this way:

I ask that you first read my letter and then review the other attachments so you will have a full understanding of their meaning and importance. I should note that the foul language was blocked out by me because it its original form it was too outrageous to share.

Vice Chair Joe Valenti tendered his resignation and issued this statement:
Dear Luzerne County Executive Republican Committee members:

As you know, at this past meeting Monday, I tendered my resignation as Vice Chair after sitting Chair, PJ Pribula, abruptly resigned effective Wed, March 27th. Allow this correspondence to make it official. While this was not an easy decision, it finally came to a head after the junior member from Wilkes Barre, Ian Kennedy, felt he had all the answers.

The other reason, I sent an email to Luzerne County Controller, Walter Griffith, outlining questionable campaign finance violations of the group headed up by TJ Fitgerald who is supporting and taking the lead for Eugene Ziemba to become chair of the party. I also copied the Times Leader and Citizens Voice. While it irked Griffith, he maintained he had no jurisdiction in this type of matter. I had hoped that the local media would be the watchdog on this, however, it went nowhere. At least the Citizens Voice followed up with an article about the various contested committee seats along with the contested Chairman’s position.

Next, TJ Fitzgerald, who has been positioning his group as the official Republican Party of Luzerne County claiming he is chair, has quite a checkered past where I have been personally taking heat for his actions. Along with his checkered past and questionable campaign finance violations, you can see from the attached (it is redacted because it is so offensive), where he posted on Facebook, comments that were completely abhorrent. Please keep in mind, his group is supporting Gene Ziemba for Republican Chair of County Party and Ziemba has fully embraced his support as well.

Further, Fitzgerald and his group wrapped their arms around and supported former councilman Steve Urban and sitting County Councilman Harry Hass while Hass and Urban both wrapped their arms around Fitzgerald and his group in this past county council election. Hass, who is also seeking the Party Chair, claims he can unite the party. However, in the past election when it came time for the endorsement for county council from the party, he refused to support all six Republican candidates. Consequently, the Democrats picked up four of the six open seats which were all held by Republicans.

As you know, I made a motion prior to leaving the meeting nominating the junior executive committee member, Ian Kennedy, to take the reigns as chair as he seems to have all the answers. I stand firm on this position and strongly urge you to appoint him.

Finally, its been nothing short of an honor and privilege to serve side by side with you as Vice Chair. We have made tremendous progress where the Republican Party controls county council; won the past two county judicial seats; holds the District Attorney seat, cut the Republican deficit voter registration to 4000….

I wish you all well and thank you for all your support.

Sincerely,

Joseph C. Valenti

P.J. and his team were true patriots who were reasonable and not reactionary. Well I'm changing to Indy and my wife is going back to the Dems fold along with my two grown adults.

Typical nonsense from a RINO supporting other RINOs and damning the ones who actually love America and the Constitution like Harry Haas. PJ, like Ronna, are detached from reality and only worked for the Uniparty. This is why Ronna was ousted (as PJ would have been too). Americans who love this country are tired of their donations and valuable time being wasted on self-serving party members and in-fighting. Typical, that PJ would continue to cast stones rather than open his faulty eyes to the Truth. He obviously listens to too much MSNBC and has lost all sense of critical thinking.

As with the Dem narrative, name calling and character assassination seem to be the current tactics. What Valentialso doesn't say is that, although the DA is a Republican, he's a RINO. Haas, who is the most honorable Republican on all of Council and obviously the only one watching out for taxpayers, most likely didn't support the other Republicans running because they are RINO sellouts who do not work for the betterment of the community or vote like Americans who love this country. Obviously, Valenti is just another sheep who doesn't get it and is more than willing to support the Swamp --- be it local or nationally. Good riddance.

You two guys DON'T get it.

Blindly supporting anti social behavior like the true Trump fanatics isn't the way to go. Both Pribula and Valenti had the true traditional GOP work ethic. Work hard, be fair and try to remember that we are all human beings in this together.

But hey if you want a convicted felon and an ingrate union member masquerading as a teacher.....go for it. But this spells the end of the reemergence of an active and thoughtful GOP.

Haas is nothing but a disruption phony who voted for a tax increase the last time he was on Council. The only r4eason why he won was because the DE ms screwed the pooch by cutting Mary Ann Velez. People thought Harry was still in office and he did nothing to help Urban and Griffin,

Plus are the big boys going to answer phone calls from Harry and the convicted drug dealer?

I used to go to Council meetings and the behavior of the fat ass Magas was horrible. Booing, hissing, making vomit noises, dressed like slobs............let the crazies get their rocks off and you'll get a loud minority of bottom feeders who wouldn't know American values if they were hit in the face with them.

Does the person who started off by saying "As with the Dem narrative, name calling and character assassination seem to be the current tactics" is name calling by calling people Rino's? I don't think there's a better example of bumfoolery anywhere.

I love how you apologists for the drug felon, the "candidate" you embrace for President, and the blatant-hate and racism exhibited in these posts use the term rino.

Got news for yiou fellas.....Ike, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, and 43 were rinos in your estimation. Each one took the middle ground and were elected and got the job done.

Pribula , Valenti et all gave you a strong Republican party. They won, they governed but you won't and can't.

News flash......you might think calling them rinos increases the size of your dicks.....and people might be smiling at you to your face but behind your back they are calling you losers and assholes.

Keep it up and you'll find yourselves among the 1300 Trump devotees charged with treason. When you lay with an infected dog like Trump, and the fringe ...you get more than flees.
