THE SUPREME COURTS

WORKLOAD THIS

TERM

The U.S. Supreme Court term begins each year in October, with bigger decisions often not expected until the end of the term in June.

The term that starts this year will include cases that touch on issues related to campaign finance, the environment, voting rights, and immigration, among others.

Their case load includes 39 cases involving President Trump. Like fat kid Cartman on South Park, t Trump believes that restrictions on his authority are unconstitutional.  So he sues knowing full well that on at least ¾ of those cases, this Supreme Court will put their kneepads on and genuflect because their god.

Voting rights are also on the agenda this Supreme Court term, in a case called Louisiana v. Callais. This case centers on whether section two of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is constitutional.

So after 60 years, we are re-fighting the equal rights voting act? This involved the redistricting of areas where minority voters have a majority. I mean this is the South so we can’t have that now!!

The court will also likely rule on a case that will decide the constitutionality of Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship. The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that every person born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof is a citizen of the United States. Should be simple right? But Trumpanzees take one little buy of words and twist them around like one of those big ass pretzels you buy at Grotto or The Avenue Diner. Historically, that little qualifier, subject to jurisdiction thereof,’ has been interpreted very, very narrowly to only apply, for example, to children of ambassadors or enemy aliens who have children while they’re here.

Then there are cases of LGBTQ issues that are being heard. The Supreme Court is set to wade back into LGBTQ issues this term, after delivering blows to transgender rights advocates last term and on the emergency docket.

On Tuesday, the justices will hear arguments in a Colorado therapist’s challenge to a state law banning mental health care providers from using “conversion therapy” for minors, defined by the state as any practice or treatment that attempts to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity.  The justices will also hear a pair of cases challenging transgender student-athlete bans.

Then there are the GUNS. After 324 shootings the gun lovers still think someone is trying to take away their guns. WE AREN’T. WE DON’T GIVE A SHIT. All we care about is stopping the violence that makes us the champ of mass murders.Through the summer, this Suopreme court has normalized the behavior of Trump, even enabling it.

The Judicial plate is full, let’s see how these Justices attack this work load. Will they adhere to their oath to be impartial?

With this court: HELL NO!

MAIL IN

BALLOTS OUT!

Luzerne County mailed the ballots for the general election out the other day.  It was a more efficient effort than the last time which is appreciated.

Still we will see the MAGA Republican malcontents make an issue out of something.
