The LuLac Edition #1301, Sept. 16th, 2010

PHOTO INDEX: ONE MORE DAY UNTIL BLOGGER MEET UP, LINDA STETS URBAN, (TIMES LEADER PHOTO) FORMER ALASKA GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN, PRESIDENTS REAGAN AND NIXON AND OUR 1966 LOGO.

BLOGGER MEET UP

Big day FRiday starting at 5PM. Blogger meet up at Rooney's Pub on South Main Street in Pittston. Come meet your bloggers and politicos. It starts at 5:30PM.

DISMISSED!!!

I refused to even dignify this story when it was happening because it was so ridiculous. But now that this fake story is over I have an opinion. The arrest of Linda Stets Urban for “stealing” a neighbor’s paper was the biggest waste of time in the Law and Order category since Paul Sorvino’s acting in season # 1. I can’t help but think if Stetts Urban were less of a gadfly this might not have been such a big deal.

THE BIG LIST

I supported Ed Rendell twice. I even gave him money twice. But for him to stand up in front of the press and say he didn’t know that there was a list being compiled of protestors is a reach. Even for a true believer like me. This guy is a micro manager. This guy has called in state wide officials in his office and put them on speaker phone with reporters to verify what they said about an issue. This guy has total recall of every big donor and every person involved in his administration. And he stands up there and tells us he didn’t know? The firm was from Philadellhua!! He didn’t know? C’mon.

BIG MAN WEIGHS IN

Congressman Paul Kanjorski got a big endorsement from the President via e mail yesterday. Here’s what it said:
In just 20 months, this movement has accomplished a tremendous amount. But we couldn't have done it without the Democrats in Congress who were willing to take a stand and fight for policies that would move America forward. And with so much still left to be done, and too many families struggling to get by, we need to keep America moving forward -- which means I need you to support Paul Kanjorski for Congress.Just like in 2008, you can make the difference this year. You can go door to door to ask folks to support Paul. You can make calls to voters in your area, and make sure they get to the polls. And you can spread the word about the importance of voting for Paul Kanjorski to your family, friends, and neighbors.Click here to join Paul's campaign. With so much at stake right now, we cannot afford to let up -- for one minute or one election. With your help we developed our Vote 2010 strategy -- and with your help, we'll make sure to send Paul Kanjorski to Washington to fight for you and your district, Pennsylvania's 11th.If Republicans win in November, their agenda is simple: take us backward to the failed policies of the last decade. They would seek to repeal all the work we've done, and try to stop us from doing more. They'll fight to repeal health insurance reform that is ensuring a family with a sick child doesn't worry about an insurance company denying them care when they need it most. They'll do everything they can to repeal Wall Street reform that puts you, the consumer, first and prevents big banks from irresponsibly gambling with our savings ever again. And they'll work to block our efforts to jump-start a clean-energy economy, reform our broken immigration system, and get more Americans back to work.We cannot let that happen, and that's why we all need to fight to get Paul Kanjorski to Washington, to keep America -- and Pennsylvania -- moving forward:Sign up to show your support for Paul: http://my.barackobama.com/kanjorski
Thank you,
President Barack Obama

SARAH’S TEA PARTY

SMART PEOPLE DON'T TRY AND REINVENT THE WHEEL... THEY JUST EXPAND UPON IT'S SUCCESSES.
That quote came from my friend Joe Leonardi who responded to an e mail response of mine regarding Sarah Palin’s power in the GOP. If you look at the long list of people Palin endorsed, her Tea Party connections are very impressive. Palin has the potential to become a movement all on her own. With an American public that does not want to be confused by the facts and votes with their gut, Palin might be a powerful force in 2012. Dr. Leonardi a former Congressional candidate in ’06 was the first one in the area to preduct McCain’s choice of the Alaksa Governor. (I thought it would be Carly Fiorini). Anyway the Doctor pointed out that Palin is following the strategy of Ronald Reagan who went across the country in the ’78 electoions and connected political IOUs he cashed in during thre 1980 race. I pointed out that a few years earlier Richard Nixon did the same thing in the 1966 off year elections. Can the 2010 race be the launching pad for a Palin run just as the ’66 and ’78 elections catapulted Nixon anmd Reagan to the top spot? It’s a good bet.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

42 years ago on this day in 1968, Richard Nixon appeared on “Laugh In”.

1966

The Metropolitan Opera House opens at
Lincoln Center in New York City to the world premiere of Samuel Barber's opera Antony and Cleopatra….Valerie Percy, the 21-year-old daughter of Senator Charles H. Percy, is stabbed and bludgeoned to death in the family mansion on Chicago's North Shore……….New York Governor elson Rockefeller steps over the border from New York state to actively campaign for Raymond Shaffer in his bid to succeed Bill Scranton…WAZL and WVCD Radio station owner Vic Diehm challenges Martin L. Murray to a debate as they battle for the 14th Senatorial District seat. Diehm offers to even provide the broadscast time.. Murray doesn’t respond and 44 years ago the number 1 song in America and LluLac land was "Cherish" by the Association.

You know your point about Nixon and Reagan is well founded. The only difference is that Nixon pulled Chuck Percy and Reagan in with him in 66 and look what cats Palin is dragging in.
