The LuLac Edition #1500, March 7th, 2011

1500 ON!!!!!

Today Lulac gives you our 1500th edition. We’ll plan to keep this little project going and hope you keep on reading and commenting. Thanks for sticking with us.

BUDGET DAY!!!

Pennsylvania’s statehouse is crazy with speculation as to how Gov. Tom Corbett will he balance the state budget. There is a with a $4 billion shortfall, no more stimulus money to rely on, no more Rendell like machinations and sleight of hand and Corbett’s pledge not to raise taxes. There is virtually no groundwork being laid for the budget hits and misses. The lid has been on the public statements. Many inside observers felt Corbett should have given hints as to what he was going to do in his first budget address. Not happening. Look for a big news day on Tuesday.

CHALLENGERS?

It appears former state Rep. Jim Wansacz and Scranton School Director Brian Jeffers are thinking about challenging incumbent Commissioner Corey O'Brien and his running mate, Blakely Mayor Jeanette Mariani. Wansacz essentially has no place to go since his successor Sid Michaels Kavulich has been making the news like a 10 year veteran of Harrisburg. Jeffers is young and willing to negotiate for the endorsement of the Democratic party. Wansacz has name recognition and can play havoc with the O’Brien-Mariani ticket. And as always with these elections, primary voters go for name recognition. Can you imagine an O’Brien-Wansacz ticket?

BARRETT MULLING

Shirley Barrett, known as the proprietor of Barrett’s Pub in the Mid Valley is contemplating a run for public office. Barrett serves on Archbald Borough Council and is entertaining thoughts about running for the Clerk of Judicial Records. The post is currently held by Mary Rinaldi who succeeded her late husband Bill in 2002 after his death. Barrett’s wings are incredible by the way.

What a milestone. While I don't always agree with you on the issues, and while I think you are way too nostaglic for your beloved Democraticicons of the 60s, I must say that your site is entertaining and informative. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Here's my take on you. I think you are heavy handed in your editing and if it were up to you, we'd all be socialists. Your judgemental opinions on teen pregnancy is prehistoric. You have a pro choice position but support the death penalty...not by normal means of lethal injection but by Stalin like tortune. Thank God you chose to be a broadcaster and a writer and not a cop or a JJudge. All that said, you are one of the few political bloggers still standing and like my favorite News Magazine, I can't wait to open up "the google machine" as you so quaunitly refer to it and see what you're up to.

Good morning. Love your site and also have to tell you that if Shirley got the votes of everyone whoever ate their wings, she'd win by a landslide.
