The Lulac Edition #1828, November 7th, 2011

Hugo Selinski.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

The last Salavantis ad hit the airwaves on Monday afternoon with Bob Harper imitating a southern fried hick. Don’t know where the heck he ever heard that accent here in NEPA but I digress. While you listen to the sing song music of the ad and hear the same old claims over and over again, consider one thing. If there is a change in administration of the Luzerne County District Attorney’s office, the most celebrated criminal of this new century will most likely get delayed justice. And once more the alleged victims of this guy will go without justice. Do you really want a 29 year old District Attorney “managing” the prosecution of Hugo Selenski? Think about it while you tap your toes to those ridiculous ads.

PENN STATE STORY

The recent revelations about the Sandusky abuse case at Penn State has started a public tidal wave against the sainted athletic department as well as people calling for the resignation of Joe Paterno. The question has to be asked, given the magnitude of the story, how will it effect the Election Day in Pennsylvania? Will voters who were on the bubble and thinking about voting just use this as an excuse not to participate? We’ll have to see.

I'd rather an honest 29 year old than a corrupt 50 year old whose Uncle is charged as part of the ongoing corruption.

who said she is honest? look at the nefarious characters running her campaign . Its amazing how if you say something enough times(about what 350000 will buy) it must be true. The people of luzerne county are more discerning than the political hatchet man from florida would give us hicks credits for.

Gotta wonder about the timing. A three year investigation hits the judicial track just before election day. hmmmm
Bad enough for the victims but I'm tired of political/judicial timings.

"as well as people calling for the resignation of Joe Paterno"

Sexual deviants, predators, and the like are uncanny in their ability to hide it. They have to be to continue their ways.

Holding Jo Pa responsible for this tragedy is merely revenge looking for satisfaction.
Of course if there is credible evidence he was aware of what was going on then all bets are off.

Gotta admit that Corbett sure can wring out the ratings - in the same league as a politician on a mission.

The Penn State story is horrific on every level.

I've read the Grand Jury finding several times. I keep coming back to pages 19 and 20, where details of the 1998 investigation of Sandusky appear.

Sandusky was interviewed by an investigator by the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare and a University Detective. Sandusky admitted to showering naked with one of the victims.

He was told "not to shower with any child again."

He said he wouldn't.

This was years prior to the 2002 event that's grabbing the headlines.

In 1998 the State of Pennsylvania, the University Police and the State College Police all knew Sandusky was a problem.

What was done?

He had to promise not to shower naked with kids anymore.

And they sent him on his merry way.

And they allowed an alleged predator to continue to victimize children.

When will they be charged?

This was a catastrophic failure of multiple institutions on multiple levels over many years.

State Senator Jeffrey Piccola wants an investigation into the university's response. That is certainly warranted. But that investigation needs to be broadened. The State College Police and the DPW must be on the hotseat with Penn State.

These were children, and no one gets a pass when children are victimized.

No one.

I'm over 60 years of age. I have always voted. I am a veteran and a taxpayer. I wont be voting in the county commissioners race today!
The reason is simple. I cannot in good conscience vote for any of the candidates for county commissioner in Lackawanna County. I dont believe any of them deserve the office! If I could vote against Corey Obrien I would. The others have demonstarted nothing to get my vote. This is a sad state of affairs. The office has been trashed by recent events and the people are let down by both parties. This situation bothers me enough that I am still pondering what to do at 2 AM, but I can not in good conscience vote for any of these candidates.

I just don't understand how people, people like 8:29 AM can even tie their own shoes because they come off as dumb as a rock. I have had a problem with Jo Pa for many years but I give him his due. He was told of an incident and he reported it without delay and idiots such as 8:29 AM accuse him as being part of the cover up. WTF?

I can't get over how there are people who actually believe that this 29 year old no nothing would be a good relacement for Jackie Carroll. They reach deep into the mud and refer to her as "Musto" and "Musto must go" .... what bullshit! These people don't care about how the DA's office is run, they must be promised a job or she has an aunt or uncle who has nothing to do but sit at a computer and blab a whole lot of nonsense. I have no doubt that Jackie Carroll wil be the DA when the votes are counted and this kid just shot herself in the foot and the foot shooting is a critical injury. Bye Bye Blackbird.

Students, mark my word, Ms. Salavantis will be the NEXT District Attorney for Luzerne County! I want to be the first to congratulate her on a campaign well run.
As for Mr. Paterno, he ran the nest where the eggs were hatched and he has no other option but to go.
Either the coach is senile (a grave possiblity), a liar (another) or just plain dumb (not so).
Paterno did some admirable things over the years. He placed the academics of the dumb jock football player ahead of the athletics and this is is noteworthy. Most athletes to begin with are quite empty upstairs and this is long before they get tackled on the field. SO, I must place credit where it is due.
Still, the judgemnt call by JOPA was made and it was not only wrong, but outrageously perverse.
Sometimes just one wrong move in life will destroy all of the good you have done. Mr. Paterno (I refuse to refer to him as Coach from now on) has just had his crowded hour---and he has failed.
Something to think about this morning.
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did the professor escape from the home?
I have never agreed with him on anything, but on Joe Paterno I must. He had a moral obligation to follow up. He and his squeaky clean program are now trashed far worse than neighbor Ohio State and ex and forgotten great Woody Hayes!
Now put the professor back in the facility, but first buy him a beer.
