WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

Our :"Write On Wednesday" logo.

This week’s “Write On Wednesday” features a letter to the editor about the lies of President Trump. It asks the question why so many people believe them but more importantly why they are tolerated. My feeling is they need to be called out all the time. Here’s that missive.

TRUMP’S LIES SHOULD BOTHER EVERYONE

Editor: Doesn’t it bother anyone about all the lies, misconceptions and total fabrication emitting from the mouth of President Trump?
Does it not bother you that the Republican governor of Florida, a supporter and friend of Trump, has declared professional wrestling in his state as an essential service?
Does it not bother the people that Trump’s former head of the Small Business Administration is co-owner with her husband Vince McMahon of the World Wrestling Entertainment? Linda McMahon heads a Super PAC that has pledged to spend $18.5 million on pro-Trump advertising in Florida.
Does it not bother anyone that Trump doesn’t support that every American should be tested for COVID-19? Yet, Mr. Trump has been tested twice and anyone that has to come in contact with him has to be tested.
Doesn’t anyone care that nearly one million Americans have been infected, that more than 70,000 people have died, and that approximately 100,000 may die by Aug. 1? I guess it doesn’t bother anyone.
It’s with this reflection that I honor all the righteous, truly deserving essential personnel, the nurses, doctors, pharmacy employees, grocers, postal workers of the USPS, the convenience store workers, sanitation workers, meat and produce owners and suppliers. So many more to name, but when it comes to essential services like the WWE, I hope this president is counted out — one, two three — in November.
Nothing is or should be as truly essential as every American who owns a business — the bars, car dealerships, salons, pizza shops, restaurants, so many to name.
