 THE GOP AND  UNITY

OR “WE DIDN’T START THIS FIRE”

We have a  new President, a President that is the most prepared individual we’ve ever had in this country’s history.  I’m going to love pretty much everything he’s going to do but for those who won’t, that’s fine. But the man is prepared and every myth the opposition threw against him, old, tottering, senile was smashed this week.

In the last seven days, the Trumpanzees have screamed, yelled and whined about the things President Biden has done in the last week.  They’re mad because a stop was put to the border wall. They claim hundreds of thousands of illegals are going to come to America. Like RIGHT NOW they claim. Well, look Diaper Don killed of  400,000 with his slow response to the pandemic so I guess there’s room. Oops maybe not because those darn illegals, they aren’t the right color you understated.  Then there’s the Pipeline out west which Biden said from the get go he was going to do. But I’m sure the people who are bashing him will lose all those jobs here. Never mind the jobs lost as their sainted GOP stalled COVID relief last year when real businesses here could have had a leg up.

Just indulge me one more word to the callers of WILK Radio. You want Schumer and Pelosi impeached but not Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Meuser  Keller and Scott Perry who all tried to have the election results voided AFTER they nearly got their asses handed to them by domestic terrorists?  You can’t impeach without  crime and the only one Schumer and Pelosi have committed is putting up with nonsense from Trump voters. Oh we have to understand them, try to tell them we mean no harm. In most cases, Chuck and Nancy have to realize that's  a lost cause.

Speaking of Impeachment, our last President will be tried in the Senate in a few weeks. Some of my GOP friends think we shouldn’t do that and have to unite the country to put the article he’s been charged with (inciting the attack in the Capitol) behind us. United we should be they say.

Curious I’d call it.

2012 to 2020-Benghazzi. No talk of putting it behind us when every single investigation of Republican controlled committees couldn’t being any charges after countless hours of hearings.

2015-2019: HRC’s emails: No talk of putting this behind us . Not one charge or criminal indictment after hours of hearings from Republican held committees.

The Republicans who put us through almost a decade of this nonsense now tell us that we should put the assault on the Capitol behind us to unite the  country.

Yeah. Your President incites thugs to ransack the Capitol and threaten an assassination of a Vice President (who was one of your OWN!!!!!)  and Speaker of the House. Then after order is restored they go and vote against the mundane counting of the votes that were upheld by 60 Courts.

Apples and watermelons folks. More deaths on the assault in the Capitol than in Benghazi. The support after the incident by sitting members of the House and Senate for the very reason this became an assault was sedition plain and simple. No one was ever KILLED by HRC’s server.

Bottom line is this: I do not want to hear another god damn thing about Benghazi or HRC’s e mails when this Republican party in one week criticizes  a new President for trying to fix the things THE PEOPLE THEY SUPPORTED AND EVEN SAID THEY’D DIE FOR SCREWED UP.

It’s indd of like the arsonist lighting up a whole neighborhood and then criticizing the firefighters for  the way they hold the hoses to put the damn thing out!

That is all.

AMERICA'S MOOD HAS IMPROVED ON CORONAVIRUS, JOBS, AND MORE AS PRESIDENT BIDEN ERA BEGINS

After yesterday January 20th, do you find yourself sleeping just a tad better?  How did it feel to turn the radio on in the middle of the night and hear nothing but an outrageous Tweet from your President? With so much information on COVID-19 were you worried about getting the truth and a traihht forward answer? You are not alone my friends.

Well, Americans surveyed on the eve of President Biden’s inauguration, found that optimism has improved on every metric but still has a long ways to go.

On COVID-19, the percentage of Americans who see things getting either “much” or “somewhat” better over the next three months jumped 10 percentage points from October to 38%. The optimism as vaccines begin to roll out was tempered as more respondents – 42%, down from 47% in the last survey – still expect the pandemic to get worse over the next three months. But it’s the most optimistic result on the issue yet.

Optimism about the health care system jumped eight percentage points, from 20% to 28%, and optimism about the education system nearly doubled to 27%. The trend was the same across the seven other issues measured: public safety, tax rates, the U.S. economy, job prospects, the national debt, the environment, and equality.

The results, which roughly cover the closely-watched first 100 days of the Biden administration, suggest the new president might have some growing optimism to back him in the coming weeks. On Wednesday, he tried to rally Americans about the months ahead during his inaugural address, saying “[w]e look ahead in our uniquely American way – restless, bold, optimistic – and set our sights on the nation we know we can be and we must be.”  (AOL News, LuLac)

A PRESS BRIEFING WITH NO LIES

OH COME NOW

Jen Psacki (Photo: AP:)

There have been two press briefings from the Biden administration. They have been calm, reasoned and full of facts. When the Press secretary didn’t have an answer, she didn’t make one up. The reason is Jen Psacki. President Joe Biden's White House press secretary  is a seasoned Democratic operative and is promising a very different tenure than her most recent predecessors.

The previous administration's relationship with the media was guided by former President Donald Trump's attacks on the free press as the "enemy of the people." Psaki, for her part, began her new role by promising to bring "truth and transparency back to the briefing room" and acknowledging how important the news media is to a democracy.

Wait for the Trumpanzees to say the media is giving Biden a pass. Wait for them to say how unfair Psacki’s predecessors were treated. Ignore the noise and the complaints. Truth not bullshit has come back to the Press Room.

CASEY COMMENDS NOMINATION OF DR. LEVINE TO BE ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

Senator Bob Casey (Photo: LuLac archives)

U.S. Senator Bob Casey  is releasing a statement following the announcement of the nomination of Dr. Rachel Levine to the position of Assistant Secretary of Health at the Department of Health and Human Services:

“As Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine has worked to save lives and protect our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is exactly the kind of crisis-tested leader our Nation needs in the position of Assistant Secretary of Health at the Department of Health and Human Services during this difficult time for our Nation. In addition to her leadership as Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Dr. Levine is also a nationally renowned medical practitioner. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and the Academy for Eating Disorders. She is also the President of ASTHO, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. Prior to her service as Secretary of Health for Pennsylvania, Dr. Levine served as the Physician General of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If confirmed, Dr. Levine will be the highest-ranking transgender official ever to serve in the federal government. I look forward to supporting her historic nomination.”'

CARTWRIGHT ON BIDEN’S AMERICAN RESCUE PACKAGE: “THE COMPREHENSIVE NATIONAL PLAN WE NEED TO DEFEAT COVID-19”

Congressman Matt Cartwright and his wife at Biden Inauguration (Photo: Cartwright Facebook page)

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) made the following statement on President-elect Joe Biden’s American Rescue Package to fund vaccination efforts and provide direct relief to working families bearing the brunt of the COVID-19 crisis:

“This is the comprehensive national plan we need to defeat COVID-19 once and for all,” Cartwright said. “We are approaching 400,000 American lives lost to this virus as unemployment claims soar. Joe Biden’s American Rescue Package tackles both the public health and economic crises brought on by the pandemic.

“This plan enhances important direct relief lifelines I have advocated for, like housing and food assistance, small business aid, funding to keep local police and first responders on payroll, and it honors our commitment to delivering the remaining $1,400 direct payments to struggling Americans, bringing their total stimulus to $2,000 as it should have been from the start. This proposal will also help us get back to normal faster with investments in coordinated vaccine distribution, testing and emergency response. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I look forward to getting to work with my colleagues and delivering this aid as soon as possible.”
