IS THE QRF REALLY THE TRUMP STORM TROOPERS?

The National Guard is developing a “quick reaction force” of troops trained in crowd control and civil disturbance that can be ready to deploy to U.S. cities by January, according to a leaked memo viewed by Task & Purpose.

All 50 states, Puerto Rico and Guam will have their own quick reaction force, or QRF. The National Guard Bureau memos show that most states will have 500 troops assigned to these units, except for those with smaller populations like Delaware, which will have 250 troops in its QRF, Alaska with 350, and Guam with 100 troops. The Washington, D.C. National Guard is directed to maintain a “specialized” military police battalion with 50 National Guard soldiers on active duty orders.

WOW! This is still another step toward the jettisoning of free speech and the end of our democracy. Rapid response team? For what? A flood? A tornado?

This is a gut reaction from the pig President to the thousands who came out to protest. This team will be the secret or not so secret force of the President.

If you don’t think this is  scary, then you’re crazy. BTW, no word or response from anyone on this.

TRUMP ON

THE SHUT DOWN

NOWHERE TO

BE FOUND

We hear all about SNAP not being funded. We hear all about how the GOP Senators are wringing because they can’t get 7 votes to open the government. But what we don’t hear from is the guy who can get it back on track.

In previous shutdowns, all instituted by the GOP, a President became involved. But not this one.

Trump is on a six-day swing through Asia, after a recent, whirlwind Middle East visit to celebrate a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal in Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza. He hosted a White House fundraiser for major donors to his $300 million ballroom that has seen construction crews tear down the East Wing, and held another fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Members of the Cabinet have similarly hit the road. Vice President JD Vance traveled to Israel, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem went to Portland, Oregon, to decry protests there, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth got a firsthand look at TOPGUN, the U.S. Navy’s elite fighter weapons school in Nevada.

Only 32% of the staff in the Executive Office of the President were set to be furloughed during the current shutdown, according to data in a contingency report from the White House budget office. That’s down from 61% during the last shutdown in 2018-19, during Trump’s first term. About half of the Executive Mansion’s team of housekeepers, ushers, valets and butlers are currently working. Last time, more than 70% were furloughed.

President Donald Trump isn’t curtailing travel. He’s not avoiding golf or making do with a skeleton staff in the West Wing. Even hamburgers served at the White House aren’t from McDonalds, this time.

In shutdowns past — including during Trump’s first term — presidents normally scaled back their schedules. With staffers deemed “non-essential” sent home, the White House often sought to appear sympathetic to Americans affected by disruptions to health care, veterans benefits and other key services.

Bottom lines are these:

Trump doesn’t care.

Republican Senators don’t care but lie that they do.

The Democrats FINALLY grew a set of balls and now the snowflake Republicans can’t take it.

HOW TO RUIN A

POLITICAL CAREER

IN  9 EASY STEPS

BRENDA SACCO STYLE

1.          After attaining power by going against your party and hooking up with a Commissioner of another party for your own self interests doesn’t work well. Look at history in the Lu and the Lac.

2.          Telling people you will only serve on an interim basis but then renege on it after being sworn in.

3.           Neglecting to run for the special election to let the public decide.

4.          Not saying she’s support the results of the taxpayer funded election she didn’t patriated in.

5.          Claim she was bullied with no proof or explanation.

6.          Fired a guy and then moved Attorneys around because she could.

7.          Attacking Bill Gaughan who has made hard choices even at the cost of his political career.

8.          Not answering articulate questions from the public.

9.          Gettig booed on her swearing in day which in all of my 60 plus years of following politics, I have NEVER SEEN before.

LUZERNE BOROUGH

MAYOR’S RACE

In the borough of Luzerne incumbent Ron Rieno faces off against perennial candidate John Cordara.  Reino took over the reins after the death of longtime Mayor James Keller. Cordara lost the 2017 election by 32 votes. In his announcement he proclaimed himself to be a “staunch supporter” of Donald Trump. How that’s going to help him with a population that has 56.4 % of children on SNAP is beyond me. The Trump policies he endorses  just don’t match up with the needs of the borough.

DEMS TARGET GOP

COUNTY COUNCIL

MEMBERS

The Democratic party in Luzerne County has  sent out targeted fleers against certain County Council Republican incumbents. One was to Brian Thornton. Thornton has been very active in attending county community events and has a solid base in the Wyoming Area section of voters.

In the flyer he was accused of doing nothing regarding the Water Street Bridge. He should not be upset by that because that was an old GOP trope that was used by Rob Bresnehan against Matt Cartwright. It’s the type of nonsensical sentence that gives the impression that the Water Street Bridge could have been invigorated by either Brian or Matt.

It was true that Thornton on the day of voting for the selection of a permanent manager called an audible and asked for more information and time but there has to be proof that the ill fated selection of Randy Robertson had to do with him being Thornton’s “buddy”.

Thornton has fought back on these allegations. Here’s that link.

Then there’s the case of Steve Urban Junior that is more problematic than Thornton’s. With Urban, it’s a good news, bad news type of thing.

The bad news is that the allegations against Urban are backed up by criminal complaints. The good news is that despite that, Urban has won numerous elections due to his own service om Council as well as his father’s stint in County government as a Commissioner and Council member.

All that said, the Democrats this time are hell bent on gaining control of Council. The targets on these two gentlemen give the Democrats some ammo to reach that goal.

THE GOP LIE MACHINE GOES AFTER

WILLIAMS AND VOTING

There’s an old saying that resonates with political people particularly in Luzerne County. “No good deed goes unpunished”. Such is the case with a recent flyer that went out attacking Denise Williams for some perceived voting irregularities when she was chair of the Luzerne County Election Board.

The Times Leader is reporting that Luzerne County Council candidate Denise Williams said a new campaign mailer put out by the county Republican Party is a “smear” attack that falsely links her to two past election errors.

“Let’s be clear: These accusations are lies,” said Williams, a Kingston Township Democrat who had served as county Election Board chairwoman before she stepped down to run for county council.

The mailer, which is expected to arrive in approximately 30,000 households around Halloween, contains a drawing depicting Williams as a witch holding a broom and asks, “what kind of spooky tricks is Denise Williams responsible for?”

First off, this is the Republican LIE machine that just follows the example of the pig President who couldn’t tell the truth if he had a cannon loaded at his ass. They lie. They misrepresent.

It’s what they do. The justification on EVERYTHING that has gone wrong since January 20th of this year boils down to this:

1.  You have Trump Derangement Syndrome which is hysterical since most of these MAGAs in the county would sell their mothers if it got them in good with Trump.

2.  Even though the GOP won elections here they scream voter fraud which by the way they are pretty good at doing on their own. Got a dead mother? She’ll vote Republican dag nabbit.

3.  Or they’ll make up shit and lie.

All that said, Controller Walter Griffith said the attacks on Williams were indeed lies and he called for an apology from both parties for Williams and Thornton’s misrepresentations. Here’s the link about Williams.

TO BE CLEAR….

Politics can be a rough business but it has taken on a cruel identity where they are no bottoms of disgust and no limits. Have the Democrats been nasty? Sure but it was in retaliation for the GOP LIE machine.
Just a friendly reminder, it was the REPUBLICAN MAGA PARTY who did this in the last election.

BRESNAHAN STATEMENT ON PURCHASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN TENOR HEALTH AND CHS

U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) released the below statement following the announcement of a deal between Tenor Health and Commonwealth Health for Tenor Health to purchase Commonwealth Health’s hospitals in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. The sale would include Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital, and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

“I am encouraged by this positive step toward ensuring continuity of care for our community,” said Rep. Bresnahan.“These hospitals are essential to Scranton and the broader region, not only as providers of critical health services, but as major employers and anchors of our local economy. My team and I will continue to work closely with all local, state, and federal leaders involved to help bring this agreement across the finish line and ensure that quality, accessible care remains available to everyone in Northeastern Pennsylvania.”

The purchase agreement comes after months of negotiations between Commonwealth Health, Tenor Health, and several local foundations. Rep. Bresnahan, State Rep. Bridget Kosierowski, and Governor Shapiro’s office have been intimately involved in mediating the negotiations. The final deal, which is dependent on Tenor Health securing funding, is expected to be finalized later this year.

Rep. Bresnahan has previously spoken about his office’s involvement in the negotiations, telling WVIA in September: “Since before I was sworn in, my team and I have worked to navigate every possible solution to ensure a continuity of care in Northeastern Pennsylvania…Our community partners, known as the ‘foundations’ have been instrumental in these negotiations and keeping the doors open during this process. We will continue to work with State Rep. Kosierowski, the governor’s team, and federal partners to maintain these hospitals.”

SHAPIRO-DAVIS ADMINISTRATION TO CALL ON FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO IMMEDIATELY FUND SNAP TO ENSURE NEARLY TWO MILLION PENNSYLVANIANS ARE FED

Following Governor Josh Shapiro's legal action today to sue the Trump Administration for unlawfully suspending the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Lt. Gov. Austin Davis tomorrow will join Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding and leadership from the Department of Human Services to highlight the urgent need for the federal government to fund SNAP for nearly two million Pennsylvanians.

Without immediate action from the White House or the Republican-controlled Congress to reopen the federal government, November SNAP payments will not be made to Pennsylvanians. In Pennsylvania last year, approximately 714,000 children and 697,000 seniors relied on SNAP every month. The program pays out more than $366 million in federal food assistance funding each month; these are costs the Commonwealth cannot backfill.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) notified all states that it will not fund November SNAP benefits because of the federal shutdown, and last week conceded it won't follow its own contingency plan to use Congressionally appropriated money to fund SNAP while the shutdown continues.

THE LULAC TIME MACHINE

THE CUBAN  MISSILE CRISIS

October 1962

10/22/1962 At 7:00 p.m. Washington time, U.S. President John F. Kennedy announced in a nationally broadcast address that "unmistakable evidence has established the fact that a series of offensive missile sites" had been established in Cuba by the Soviet Union "to provide a nuclear strike capability against the Western Hemisphere". He announced "a strict quarantine on offensive military equipment under shipment to Cuba" and warned that any launch of a nuclear missile from Cuba would require "a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union". Kennedy implored, "I call upon Chairman Khrushchev to halt and eliminate this clandestine, reckless and provocative threat to world peace and to stable relations between our nation.

10/25/1962 At a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, American Ambassador Adlai Stevenson confronted Soviet Ambassador Valerian Zorin with photographs of missile sites in Cuba and angrily asked, "Do you, Ambassador Zorin, deny that the USSR has placed and is placing medium and intermediate range missiles and sites in Cuba? Yes or no? Don't wait for the translation. Yes or no?" Zorin laughed and then said, "I am not in an American courtroom, sir, and therefore I do not wish to answer a question that is put to me in the fashion in which a prosecutor puts questions. In due course, you will have your reply."

At 6:50 a.m., the American destroyers USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. (DD-850) and the USS John R. Pierce (DD-753) made the first enforcement of the blockade, stopping and boarding the Soviet-chartered ship Marcula, 400 miles (640 km) from Cuba. After spending two hours searching the Marcula and determining that its cargo of trucks, paper, sulfur and auto parts provided no threat, the Navy allowed the ship to proceed with its cargo.

10/28/2025 The Cuban Missile Crisis came to an end when, at 5:00 p.m. Moscow time (10:00 a.m. in Washington), Radio Moscow broadcast the text of the message from Soviet Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev to U.S. President John F. Kennedy. "Dear Mr. President," Khrushchev's letter began, "I have received your message of October 27. I express my satisfaction and thank you for the sense of proportion you have displayed and for realization of the responsibility which now devolves on you for the preservation of the peace of the world." Khrushchev went on to say, "I regard with great understanding your concern and the concern of the United States people in connection with the fact that the weapons you describe as offensive are formidable weapons indeed. Both you and we understand what kind of weapons these are. In order to eliminate as rapidly as possible the conflict which endangers the cause of peace, to give an assurance to all people who crave peace, and to reassure the American people, who, I am certain, also want peace, as do the people of the Soviet Union, the Soviet Government, in addition to earlier instructions on the discontinuation of further work on weapons construction sites, has given a new order to dismantle the arms which you described as offensive, and to crate and return them to the Soviet Union." In an agreement worked out by Khrushchev and Kennedy with the assistance of U.N. Secretary-General U Thant, the U.S. pledged not to invade Cuba, and to remove Jupiter missiles that had been placed in Turkey near its border with the USSR……………….and this week in 1962 the number one song in LuLac land and America was  Monster Mash  by Bobby (Boris) Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers.
