This week we share a Facebook post about Pope Leo’s thoughts on those who proclaim themselves as “pro life” when indeed the Pontiff see contradictions.  The American born Pope who is still a citizen has rankled the itty bitty feelings of MAGA Catholics and Christians.

 

POPE LEO AND “PRO LIFERS”

Pope Leo XIV enrages MAGA world by announcing that people who support the death penalty and mistreat migrants are “not really pro-life.”

The Church has become Public Enemy #1 for Trumpers…

“Someone who says, ‘I’m against abortion,’ but says ‘I’m in favor of the death penalty,’ is not really pro-life,” the pope said to reporters.

“Someone who says that, ‘I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants who are in the United States,’ I don’t know if that’s pro-life,” he continued.

Leo hit the nail on the head. For Republicans, being “pro-life” is nothing more than a cheap branding tool. If they were really “pro-life” they would want to support children after they’re born instead of throwing them to the wolves by gutting the social safety net. They’d support universal healthcare to ensure that all Americans are able to live long, thriving lives.

“I would ask, first and foremost, that there be greater respect for one another and that we search together, both as human beings, in that case as American citizens, or citizens of the state of Illinois, as well as Catholics, to say, ‘We need to really look closely at all of these ethical issues, and to find the way forward as a church,’” the pope added.

This is not the first time that Pope Leo has attracted the ire of the MAGA movement. The so-called Christians that compose the modern Republican Party despise him for espousing the actual teachings of Jesus Christ by calling for ALL people to be treated with dignity. Trumpers see migrants as subhuman and delight in seeing them terrorized, harmed, and deported. Pope Leo will have no part in such hatred.
