The LuLac Edition #667, Dec. 14th, 2008

PHOTO INDEX: LACKAWANNA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MIKE WASHO AND COREY O'BRIEN AND STATE SENATOR BOB MELLOW.

THE ELECTORS

At 12 noon on Monday, Dec. 15th in Harrisburg, 21 electors from the Commonwealth will convene in the Electoral College to elect officially the President of the United States. Three Lackawanna County officials, Mike Washo, Corey O'Brien and Robert Mellow will participate in this historic process. All three were early supporters of Mr. Obama in the 2008 race. By and large, it’s a ceremonial affair with the official recording of votes cast in the presidential election, an address by the governor and roll call of the assembled electors. With Senator Obama’s overwhelming electoral vote lead, little suspense is expected when electors meet at the 50 state Capitols to put the official seal on what the voters decided. The ceremony will be held at 12 noon in the State Capitol and televised live on PCN.

Seems the folks in Bagdad were underwhelmed by the farewell visit on their conquering hero, the Big "W", Geo. W. "Everythings Ducky" Bush. He Has "DUCKED" responsibility for incredibly stupid policies and he has "DUCKED"
blame for thousands of deaths on both sides in this unnecessary war
of his, but they've actually got him "DUCKING" Shoes! And a deft "DUCKER" he proved once again to be. Moving just enough to avoid the first shoe, he gave it his best steely eyed Clint Eastwood Texas stare and either froze in panic or was the coolest cat in the room. The second shoe sailed far right, the throw was made as the Iraqi CC Sabbaithia was on his way down! In the good old days the Bush spin on this could be something like." the Iraqi people honored President Bush with the throwing of the shoes
an act reserved for only the most reverred of heroes..."
Good thing it wasnt a shoe bomb!!!

Washo and OBrien seem to be doing business as usual in the Lac. Less flamboyant and corrupt than the previous dictatorship, but business as usual just the same. Its all about jobs, but there are fewer to hand out to croonies these days. Its all always been about jobs and always will be! Boy wonder OBrien has his eye on whats next for him in politics and Washo still appears to be a decent fellow who wonders what he is doing in politics or government!

The Shoes, the shoes... the lasting legacy conjures two pictures to mind. The Mission Accomplished banner and now the shoes!Victory Lap interrupted by a crazed young man who knows too well there is no Victory to celebrate here. No Mission Accomplished! The visual is clear but we were also treated to a soundbite that describes the whole Alice in Wonderland eight years.
"So What!!" That about says it.
"Thats All Folks".

That is an obnoxious picture of Commissioner O'Brien. He looks like he's modeling cufflinks. A phony through and through.
