The LuLac Edition #2995, July 18th, 2015

CARTWRIGHT EVENT A HIT
(Photo: Huffington Post).
Congressman Matt Cartwright held his 4th annual Summer picnic at the Mercatili Segilia Park today and the event was populated by Mr. Cartwright’ many friends and supporters. The mid summer event is becoming a tradition among LuLac Democrats as well as members of the lawmaker’s vast 17th Congressional District. Delegations from the Poconos and Carbon County stopped by too.
Cartwright was first elected in 2012 and currently is finishing his second term in Washington. As a Freshman he made quite an impression with the Democratic leadership but he has also endeavored to work with members from across the aisle. As chronicled here and in local newspapers not a month goes by that there isn’t an announcement of some consequence, whether it be funding or information from Mr. Caryteright’s office. Here are some photos from the event.
Special guests were candidates for State Supreme Court Christine Donahue and Kevin Dougherty. From left to right is Judge Donoahue http://donohueforjustice.com/, Congressman Cartwright, your blog editor, and Judge Kevin Dougherty http://www.doughertyforpa.com/.

Plains Township candidate for Commissioner Tom Shubilla chats with the Congressman.

Lackawanna County Commissioner Pat O'Malley made the scene and was welcome by many in the crowd.  O'Malley sat and hopped tables as he made the rounds at the event.
Had a chance to converse with Representatives Sid Michaels Kavulich and Frank Farina. Farina came with his wife and children. I have never seen kids that were so well mannered and behaved at an event like this. Kudos to the Farinas.
Here's local activist  Joelle Barnes who is a regular attendee at these summer events for Mr. Cartwright. Now Mr. Cartwright is for Hillary Clinton, Ms. Barnes is for...well you see the shirt and I'm hoping Joe Biden will jump in. God willing, the 5th Annual Cartwright event next summer is going to have a barn burner conversation on the '16 race for President.

Here I am with Tom Bindus of the 5th District Democrats, check out their Face book page https://www.facebook.com/pages/5th-District-Democrats/680923265317565 and Representative Mike Carroll. Carroll and I also got into chewing the 2016 Presidential race fat.
Had a conversation with the Congressman at the event.

A few shots of the people enjoying the event. Food was catered by Wyoming Mayor's Bob Boyer's Food Truck. When I was in line, former Mayor of Scranton Jimmy Connors was standing behind me. As I was reaching for a hot dog bun, I asked him if he wanted one. Connors replied that he thought he might be the only Mayor of Scranton who was a vegetarian. I immediately let him get ahead of me. Hope he enjoyed the beans and the salads as much as we did.

I wonder if people in general now what a great job Congressman Cartwright is doing? I've said it over and over, we have never had a Congressman who has done so much in so little time. Congressman Carwright gives a whole new meaning to the now famous slogan, "Energizer Bunny." The man is a tireless worker for his District and I for one see him spending a little more time in the Congress, gaining a real foothold in Washington and then he will be of to save the former middle class. He will be known as the most effect representative to ever represent this area and yes, I knew Congressman Flood but I see Cartwright as being even more effective.

IN RESPONSE

I was there until 12:30pm so I don't know. He did see that Sorvino movie and might have been recovering at the Wegman's Mediterranean Olive bar.
