THE PIG PRESIDENT VISITS

Well Donald Trump came to the suburbs of LuLac  land Tuesday and made a complete ass out of himself. Trump tried to emphasize his focus on combating inflation, yet the issue that has damaged his popularity couldn’t quite command his full attention.

The president told the crowd gathered at a casino and resort in Mount Pocono that inflation was no longer a problem and that Democrats had used the term “affordability” as a “hoax” to hurt his reputation.

The bottom line here is that inflation is at 3%. The same as it was with President Biden. At one point, the pig President said he solved inflation and there wasn’t any.

He seems to have a fixation with Biden. Can he be jealous that Biden got an infrastructure bill done? He can’t blame Biden for the bad reaction tariffs are having because Biden never proposed them. No sane President would ever do that.

Trump then started to introduce Senator Dave McCormick and referred to McCormick’s loss to  Dr. Oz in a close primary. He said that McCormick needed to win a second time or else his beautiful wife was going to leave the Senator. Now Trump most likely doesn’t remember that he endorsed Oz who contributed to that McCormick defeat.

Then there was the stuff about immigration. .

“Why is it we only take people from s—-hole countries, right?” Trump said onstage. “Why can’t we have some people from Norway, Sweden, just a few?”

Trump said he objected to taking immigrants from “hellholes like Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia and many other countries.” He added for emphasis that those places “are a disaster, right? Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime.”

No word on the national guard troops in cities, he praised Pete Hegshit and nary a word about bowing boats out of the water and killing people.

It was a word salad of lies, bullshit, anger and worn out rhetoric that people are turning off.

It was typical Trump. Cruel, chaotic and crazy. Not befitting a President. (AP, LuLac)

JOHNSON ON EXTENDING HEALTH CARE SUBSIDIES: NADA

The impotent Speaker of the House of Representatives has indicated he will not go for a health care extension.

Republican leaders touted “productive” discussions on health care in their Wednesday morning conference meeting that would lead to a package coming to the floor next week as Americans are facing jumps in their premiums due to expiring Covid-era Affordable Care Act tax credits.

“The overall system is broken, and we’re the ones that are going to fix it. You will see that laid out,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said while not revealing many details of the forthcoming package.

“We’re moving those through the regular order process, and that’s the way it’s supposed to work. So, you’ll see many of those processes. We think we can get it all wrapped up by the end of that deadline of January 30th, and you’ll see that process continue over the days and weeks ahead as well,” he added.

Johnson indicated any plan Republicans would put on the floor would not include extending the ACA subsidies, saying it “would be a dereliction of duty to just extend subsidies without making without massive reforms to them.”

What a crock. So he stops Americans from getting health care by reforming it? Where the fuck is your plan Johnson? There is no excuse for inaction when YOU get Cadilac Health Care. (CNN, LuLac)

SHOW THE DAMN VIDEO

President Donald Trump on Monday justified the U.S. military’s decision to fire a second missile in a heavily scrutinized attack on a boat in the Caribbean Sea by claiming that two suspected drug smugglers were trying to right the vessel after it had capsized in the initial strike.

Trump also backtracked on whether he was open to releasing the video footage of the second strike. Last week, Trump told reporters he saw “no problem” in releasing the footage, but on Monday he said he would leave the decision to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The Republican administration is facing calls from Democratic lawmakers to release footage of the Sept. 2 operation in the Caribbean Sea, which killed nine people aboard the boat in an initial strike and then two more who managed to survive.

“They were trying to return the boat back to where it could float, and we didn’t want to see that because that boat was loaded up with drugs,” Trump said on Monday.

Really? They killed two survivors clinging to life. If they saved them instead of shooting them like one of Kristi’s Noem’s dogs, they might have had information on how to prosecute. We’ve now reached a new stage in this country. Shooting to kill. (AP, LuLac)

BRESNAHAN WELCOMES ADMINISTRATOR OZ TO SCRANTON FOR HEALTHCARE ROUNDTABLE

U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) welcomed Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz to Scranton for a healthcare roundtable with local stakeholders and officials. Prior to the roundtable, Rep. Bresnahan and Administrator Oz visited The Wright Center in Scranton to tour the facility and meet with staff and leadership.

The discussion with Administrator Oz and our local healthcare community was extremely productive,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “It was a fantastic opportunity to sit down with local leaders to discuss how we can best implement the Rural Health Transformation Fund and the importance of high-quality healthcare. I want to thank Administrator Oz for coming to Scranton to hear firsthand from our community. We’re committed to delivering real, practical solutions that improve access to care, lower costs, and ensure every community gets the support it needs.”

“The decisions CMS makes in Washington and Baltimore affect Americans in every one of the country’s nearly 20,000 cities and towns — urban, rural, and everything in between,” said CMS administrator Mehmet Oz. “That’s why it’s so important for us to get out of the Beltway and hear directly from people in those communities. I’m grateful to Congressman Bresnahan for bringing together local Northeastern Pennsylvania experts and stakeholders to work toward real, bipartisan solutions that can lower costs, increase access, and improve quality of care.”

During the roundtable, Rep. Bresnahan and Administrator Oz spoke with participants about Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform, medical modernization, insurance coverage, value-based care, and the Rural Health Transformation Fund. Following the roundtable, Rep. Bresnahan and Administrator Oz spoke with members of the press, along with Jim Pettinato, CEO of Wayne Memorial Hospital, Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, CEO of The Wright Center, Matt Osterberg and Ron Schmalzle, Pike County Commissioners, and Bob Durkin, President of Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

“We are sincerely grateful to Dr. Oz, Congressman Bresnahan, and their staffs for visiting The Wright Centers for Community Health and Graduate Medical Education and for recognizing the essential role community health centers, community-based primary care, and physician and health care workforce development play in the health and vitality of our region and our nation,” said Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, president and CEO of The Wright Center. “As a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike and nationally recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home, The Wright Center ensures accessible, whole-person-focused, team-based, and cost-effective care for about 38,300 individuals each year across Northeast Pennsylvania.

“Our scalable Graduate Medical Education Safety-Net Consortium (GME SNC) model intentionally integrates health care delivery, interprofessional workforce development, innovation, and community voice to provide high-quality, affordable, and compassionate primary and preventive whole-person health services, especially in rural and underserved communities, while training 430 residents, fellows, and interprofessional learners annually, with strong retention in those communities.

“At a time when hospital mergers and closures, accelerating health care workforce shortages, and fragile rural health care infrastructures threaten timely access to care, our integrated primary care and GME-SNC model serves as both a stabilizing anchor for local health systems and a lifeline for patients and families. It is a profound privilege and honor to share our mission-driven work and the voices of our patients and learners with our distinguished guests.”

SHAPIRO ADMINISTRATION TO REMIND FARMERS THAT HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE IS AVAILABLE THROUGH PENNIE DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT

Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys, Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, and Pennie Executive Director Devon Trolley will visit Spiral Path Farms to remind Pennsylvania farmers that health insurance coverage is available to them through Pennie, Pennsylvania's official health insurance marketplace.

Many farmers don't get health insurance through an employer, and farm income often changes from season to season. Pennie's Open Enrollment period is the only time of year to enroll in individual and family health coverage for 2026. Open Enrollment typically runs from November 1 to December 15 for coverage that starts on January 1, 2026. Outside of Open Enrollment, only individuals with life changes can enroll.

"The holiday season represents the best of our Commonwealth - communities coming together, supporting each other, and appreciating all that we have here in Pennsylvania," said Governor Shapiro. "The light that comes from the Capitol Christmas tree reminds us of the hope we share and the brighter future we're building together - that spirit and sense of shared purpose are what the holidays are all about. It's what carries us through the good times and the dark times, and it's what makes Pennsylvania such a special place to call home. I hope this season brings every family moments of grace, of gratitude, and of joy. From our family to yours, a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a wonderful New Year."

CANADA'S HOUSE OF COMMONS VOTES 163 TO 78 TO APPROVE THE RED MAPLE LEAF FLAG

December 1963

The Great Canadian flag debate (or Great Flag Debate) was a national debate that took place in 1963 and 1964 when a new design for the national flag of Canada was chosen.

Although the flag debate had been going on for a long time prior, it officially began on June 15, 1964, when Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson proposed his plans for a new flag in the House of Commons. The debate lasted more than six months and bitterly dividing politicians and the general public over the design of a new Canadian flag. The debate over the proposed new Canadian flag was ended by closure on December 15, 1964. It resulted in the adoption of the "Maple Leaf" as the Canadian national flag, which remains the official national flag of Canada.

The flag was inaugurated on February 15, 1965, a date that has been commemorated as National Flag of Canada Day since 1996.

The flag was inaugurated on February 15, 1965, at an official ceremony held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in the presence of Governor General Major-General Georges Vanier, the prime minister, the members of the Cabinet, and Canadian parliamentarians. Also throughout Canada, at the United Nations in New York City, and at Canadian legations and on Canadian ships throughout the world, the Canadian Red Ensign was lowered and the Maple Leaf flag was raised. As journalist George Bain wrote of the occasion, the flag "looked bold and clean, and distinctively our own." And this week in 1963 the number one song in LuLac land, America and Canada was “Domonique” by   The Singing Nun.

WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

Our “Write On Wednesday” logo

This week we take a look at a post from Facebook about a Dan Mueser Town Hall. Now these aren’t regular town halls, these are open to the public. Meuser who Has been in a safe district has been campaigning since the start of the Trump administration earlier this year. Meuser seems to be between a rock and a hard place. As a true believer he can’t stray from the Trrump agenda by those beliefs might collide with the beliefs of people in his district.

This post is an insight into how he conducts meetings and how it seems even with invited guests, he might see problems in ’26.

INSIDE A MEUSER PUBLIC MEETING

I attended a private RSVP Town Hall Friday with Congressman Dan Meuser (R)(PA-09)in Pottsville that was shared with me from Jenn Brothers for Congress. For once, he had a variety of constituents from all parties. The common denominator: none of them were happy with his leadership during his time in office. Some were upset by his policy; others were upset by his character and integrity.

During the town hall:

He lied and shifted blame. He got called out by a Republican doctor and a democratic government worker for false statistics. He responded by ignoring the speaker, blaming the Democratic party, raising his voice at constituents, and cutting them off mid-question. 🙉

He dismissed advice. A veteran informed him that flag code was not being followed properly for the display for the event. The United States flag was placed on the wrong side of the speaker. Seeming to not understand, Meuser said, "Yes, you're right" then ignored the request to fix it.🙈

Barely anyone there got to speak. Maybe 10-15 people out of the 50 that they allowed to RSVP. Tensions were high in the room as people were cut off and rushed through questions without a proper answer. 🙊

Meuser tried to push several false statements in response to questions that his constituents asked, thinking that he could pull the wool over people's eyes. 🙅

He loudly trumpeted that 35 percent of immigrants are women and children in boats being forced to traffic Fentanyl for the cartels. He claimed that when they get close to the United States shoreline, they chuck their kids into the ocean as a distraction for the authorites. The Republican doctor in the front firmly stated that most Fentanyl that enters the United States illegally comes from China and India. A constituent who had lost his son to Fentanyl called him out on the fact that the bulk of what comes across the Mexican Border is via car through documented citizens. 💉

Meuser claimed he wants a smaller government with less involvement in citizens lives, and then stated shortly after that the Republican Party were going to attempt to pass legislation to use tax dollars to open citizens medical savings accounts managed by the government (so not preventing big pharma corporate price gouging, just finding ways to funnel more of your money to them). He said he didn't think he had ever taken a dollar for his campaign in corporate PAC money from the pharmaceutical industry, but his FEC reports show as follows: 💰

💊 2022 he took $42,344 in funding from Pharmaceuticals/Health Products.

💊 2020 Cycle: Roughly $18,500 from Pharmaceuticals/Health Products PACs.

💊 2018 Cycle: Over $69,000 from the Pharmaceutical/health industry overall.

When confronted about the violations of the constitution, he said that approved congressional laws had precedent over the constitution. Constituents wanted to know why he wouldn't confront Trump's violations of the law, Meuser responded that Congress was more like a board of directors to a CEO than a check-and-balance. ⚖️

Meuser said he has friends in Congress that are Democrats, but then proceeded to blame the Democrats more than a dozen times for the administration's shortfalls, referenced Biden and Obama more than a dozen times and even brought up Clinton. 🗣️

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 though was when he stated that 35 percent of SNAP is waste, fraud and abuse. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, a former private investigator and one of the current Democratic primary candidates for district PA-09, challenged Meuser's information. She pointed out that the USDA website that is under the current Trump Administration's direction publicly states 2 percent of SNAP expenses are fraudulent. She then referenced her own experience working to cite most of the 2 percent of fraud cases that occur are from businesses and corporations that overcharge SNAP accounts. 📈

I was incredibly impressed with Jenn's ability to debate Meuser without backing down. She knew he was spreading lies, and she shut him right down with facts, experience and confidence. 🧑🏫

Dan Meuser got elected on false information, fear and promises that he broke. We don't need him in office for another term. Eventually, whoever wins the primary is going to have to go toe-to-toe with Congressman Dan Meuser in the main election. Jenn Brothers has proven that 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔. She is not afraid to walk into Meuser's own events and prevent him from manipulating concerned citizens into losing trust in the systems that work and protect the most vulnerable in our society.

DEFENDING THE INDEFENSIBLE

The little wimpy whiny man from Missouri

ERIC SCHMIDT

THE NOTHING BURGER SENATOR

I watched in amazement on Sunday when I tuned in “This Week” on ABC TV. A true Trump sycophant Eric Schmdtt turned in a breathtakingly stupefying  performance of interviewed, lied, had an obvious hard on for former Secretary of Defense , Joe Biden and made no sense at all.

I want to show you the transcript from the interview courtesy of Crooks and Liars.  Senator Scmiitt was petulant, patronizing and pathetic. I can’t be sure but I bet the slick Senator had to have a great deal of brown stuff on his nose from the shit he was slinging on national TV.

He kept on using the term “:nothing burger” to support his lies. Maybe we should call him The NOTHING BURGER SENATOR.

Sen. Eric Schmitt couldn't defend the indefensible, so he went after George Stephanopoulos like a school-yard bully instead. During an appearance on this ABC's This Week, Schmitt was asked by Stephanopoulos about Trump's pardon of Honduras Ex-President Juan Orlando Hernandez, a convicted cocaine trafficker, to which Schmitt claimed he didn't know anything about it before immediately trying to change the topic:

STEPHANOPOULOS: And Senator, let me just begin where we left off with Congressman Smith. Do you support this pardon of the former Honduran president?

SEN. ERIC SCHMITT (R-MO): I'm not familiar with the facts or circumstances, but I think what's telling here is to try to imply that somehow President Trump is soft on drug smuggling is just ridiculous. It's totally ridiculous. He's the -- he has provided border security like we've never seen before. And the fact is, these cartels now, because the southern border is closed, they've gone to the high seas.

So, President Trump is acting with his core Article II powers. No serious legal expert would doubt that the president has authority to blow narco terrorists out of the water, who are poisoning a hundred thousand Americans every year. If you watched the SEC Championship Game yesterday, the Big 10 Championship Game, combine those two stadiums with the number of people there, that's how many people are dying each every year from the poison that's coming from these narco terrorists.

So the fact is, George, President Trump has been delegated the authority by Congress to designate terrorist organizations. He has done that. He sent a letter to Congress saying he was going to initiate these strikes. We've had regular briefings about it, including from Secretary of State Rubio, including from other high-ranking officials in the Department of Defense. He's executing those.

And so now, what we have now are Democrats who have such X-ray vision in clairvoyance that they know the intentions of narco terrorists on boats, yet were so blind to see that they had a president for four years that was operating as a vegetable in Joe Biden. So, forgive me if I'm a little skeptical that this isn't all about politics and trying to take out Secretary Hegseth. That's what this whole thing's been about, George.

They didn't want him confirmed. They didn't want a realist in place. They didn't want to shift from their pet projects around the world and trying to build democracies in the sand of the Middle East by the barrel of a gun. We have core national interests at stake, the homeland and the Western Hemisphere and the rise of China. That's what this administration is focused on.

The Democrats are just upset about that and they try to create some controversy each and every week, and it goes nowhere.

When Stephanopoulos pressed Schmitt on his ridiculous assertion that he didn't know anything about the pardon, Schmitt attacked the messenger, and never did answer the question before pivoting to attacking Democrats instead.

STEPHANOPOULOS: What do you mean you're not familiar with the facts and circumstances of the pardon? It's been well reported all across the country. He is the former president of Honduras. He was convicted of conspiring to bring in 400 tons of cocaine into the United States, also guns and other materials. It's been front page news across the country. Aren't you curious about that?

SCHMITT: Well, I'm curious about your pushback on that particular point. With your previous guest, you had zero pushback because he is, giving the Democrat talking points like you spew every single week, which is probably why your ratings are so bad. But to make the point, what I'm saying is that you're trying to divert here the attention from what the American people actually support.

75 percent of Americans support us blowing narco terrorists out of the water in the Caribbean who are trying to poison Americans. There's no real legal debate about the ability to do that. Now, you could have a policy discussion about it, which now you see the Democrats pivoting from the second strike and the war crimes allegation to really what this whole thing is about. Should we do it -- be doing it in the first place?

I have way more sympathy for my friends, my cousins, my neighbors, those people who've been poisoned by these narco terrorists, people who've been skinned alive by these cartels that they bring people to the United States than I do for these narco terrorists. I mean, that's just the reality of the situation. So, there's legal justification for it. He's doing it. We do have more of a focus on our interest now in the Western Hemisphere, and I'm thankful for that.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you support the pardon of the convicted drug smuggler or not?

SCHMITT: George, like I said, what we're talking about here are the narco terrorist poisoning Americans. This attempt to try to focus on a pardon is classic because you've lost the debate now on the narco terrorist question. Because at the beginning of the week, you had Democrats actually on camera saying you should disobey orders. That's what Senator Kelly and Slotkin were saying, you should disobey orders. And then they went so far as to say that if you do -- if you don't do that, you might get prosecuted down the road.

It's hard to sort of overstate how problematic that is for the chain of command and what it is for a military. The Democrats had their shot at all this, and it was rejected. They wanted to have DEI struggle sessions in our military, transgender surgeries, recruitment was way down. The fact is under President Trump and now Secretary Hegseth, recruitment is sky high. Morale is sky high. They're upset about that, because they had an agenda that said that America could be everywhere all at once all the time.

Now, we have a president that's a realist, focusing on core national interest, including protecting Americans from being poisoned by the narco terrorists.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Just to clarify, the Democrats you talked about were talking about illegal orders, they were specific about saying it was illegal orders --

SCHMITT: Yeah.

STEPHANOPOULOS: -- that they were talking about. Sure.

And with that Stephanopoulos finally let him off the hook, which is what all of them count on when they make these media appearances. Filibuster and attack the other side and never, ever criticize Dear Leader for anything, and if you just ramble on for long enough you'll never have to take ownership of your indefensible views.

FOOD-TASTIC NEWS

WHAT DO STARS AND NORMAL FOLK PUT IN THEIR SANDWICHES

What goes between two pieces of bread? Almost anything. Week after week, Dish Podcast celebrities prove just that with answers as varied as the guests themselves. In closing their interviews, cohosts Nick Grimshaw of BBC Radio fame and chef Angela Hartnett often ask rapid-fire, food-related questions: What's your favorite way to eat eggs? What's your favorite form of potato? What's your favorite pasta? What's your favorite sandwich filling? If you pay attention to the varying preferred sandwich fillings, it becomes a tour of the many culinary delights of the world.

Natalie Portman, an American actress living in Paris, adheres to a vegan diet and said falafel is her favorite sandwich filling. Made from fried balls or patties of chickpeas and fava beans, falafel has a contested origin. Speculations attribute it to India, Lebanon, and more. According to History Today, falafel was most likely developed in Egypt then slowly made its way throughout the Middle East and the world.

Ham and pease pudding

Little Mix group member Jade of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England, said ham and pease pudding is her favorite sandwich filling. “Pease pudding is a northern thing. … It's not a green [pea]; it's like a yellowy pea,” Jade explains.

According to an article at Medium, pease pudding is a simple dish made from split yellow peas, water, and salt. Also called pease porridge or pease portage, the dish was created as a cheap source of protein for the industrial working class such as miners, ship builders, and railway workers. Some say its namesake is Edward Pease, a Quaker dubbed “Father of the Railways” for his work in advancement of railways and locomotive design.

The humble egg

English actor, comedian and writer Stephen Fry said his favorite sandwich filling is egg without elaborating. This leaves so many questions. Fried eggs? Scrambled eggs? Sliced boiled eggs? Egg salad? The world may never know. But eggs are a staple in cuisines around the world in breakfast, main courses, and desserts.

New York pastrami

Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan said her favorite sandwich filling is New York pastrami. Pastrami is made from brined, seasoned, and smoked cured beef brisket. Katz’s Deli, famously featured in that scene of “When Harry Met Sally,” is also famous for its pastrami, often cited as the best pastrami sandwich in New York. An article on New York City’s website attributes pastrami's roots to The Ottoman Empire. When Eastern European immigrants made their way to New York, they brought the tradition of pastrami with them.

Turkey

American actress, singer and beauty queen Vanessa Williams said her favorite sandwich filling is turkey. The history of the turkey sandwich likely goes back as far as the sandwich itself. According to Earl of Sandwich USA, John Montague, the Fourth Earl of Sandwich, asked for roast beef to be placed in between two pieces of bread so he could eat it with his hands. That fateful day in 1762, the sandwich was born.
