PHOTO INDEX: VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN AND CONGRESSMAN CHRIST CARNEY, REPRESENTATIVE EDDIE DAY PASHINSKI OF THE 121ST AND NEW AIDE TO CONGRESSMAN KANJORSKI, KEVIN LYNN.

BIDEN AND CARNEY

Renowned photog Joe Slish took the photo of Congressman Carney and Vice President Biden during the Veep's visit on Monday. Two captions for the photo:
Carney: "This Health Care Bill deal better work out or I might be tempted to invade Delaware if I don't win".
Carney: "Yeah, the tie is from St. Patrick's Day, what's it to you? "

EDDIE’S BILL

A bill introduced by state Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski that enhances the authority of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department to conduct audits at continuing care facilities across the state was signed Friday by Gov. Ed Rendell.
The new law allows the insurance commissioner to determine the frequency of the department's investigations and examinations of continuing care facilities.
"The new law places better auditing safeguards on continuing care facilities so administrators can make sure that patients get the attention and treatment they need," Pashinski said. Pashinski, D-Wilkes-Barre, said under the law, the examinations are conducted at least once in the first five years of the facility, and at least once in the second five-year period. The commissioner has the authority to conduct more frequent examinations, if needed
Pashinski has a passion for health care and how it is administered. The Legislator sent his own crafted plan to President Obama. Pashinski’s common sense plan makes it easy for the average person to navigate through the red tape. This piece of legislation is only an example of Pashinski’s interest in the issue.

SIGN STEALERS

It was said that the Giants were stealing signs the day Bobby Thompson hit his epic home run off Ralph Branca in the prelude to the 1951 World Series. But in the 120th Legislative district, stealing signs has become a campaign issue in the three way race featuring incumbent Phyllis Mundy, GOPer Bill Goldsworthy and Libertarian candidate Tim Mullen. Goldsworthy ever the law and order man told the Times Leader
that “anyone found stealing signs will be arrested and charged”.
Like here’s my question, when you steal a sign, where do you put it? And if you try to destroy it, where do you do it?
Just wondering.

LYNN TO KANJORSKI’S OFFICE

Former WILK broadcaster Kevin Lynn has signed on with the Paul Kanjorski Congressional Communications Department. Lynn was also associated with WARM and WBRE TV as well as WPIX TV in New York and ESPN Sports Network. It has been reported that Lynn has been trying to land a government position for sometime. I wish him well and am very impressed with how he somehow managed to land a position in the waning days of a tough Congressional campaign. While I’m glad he’s off the unemployment line (because it is a horrible experience-thanks again Blue Cross of NEPA!!!!!) I wonder how many of the young, twenty something true believers who pushed for Kanjorski the last time around feel being aced out by the veteran talk show gabber. That said, we wish him well.

I'm not sure you will allow this but I think it is legit. How is that a congressman hires a person who has repeatedly admitted to using illegal drugs? Kevin is qualified for the position, but he had repeatedly claimed to use drugs when he was on the air. I don't get it.

Sounds like a lot of green-eyed monsters out there, because of Lynn's good fortune at landing a job. Corbett sounded like he was going to cry like a little girl on his show yesterday. That guy loves to kick a guy when he's down and can't stand it when the person, makes good for themselves. Maybe local talk radio wasn't the right thing for him, but come on, let the guy make a living. I hope Kanjo wins so Corbett's tax money will have to pay Lynn's salary!

Being in my 20s and searching the job market I am a dem and always voted dem but after this latest hire by Kanjo just shows how out of touch he is. I simply cant vote for the man because I see all the people that work for him and do nothing now he just hires another one. The Werners,
Terrannas,Mitchels, and the do nothing Paul Mahers work for Kanjo so him hiring Lynn doesnt suprise me at all. All these guys should have to look for new jobs next month. After walking into Kanjos office and seeing the workers he has doing his campaign he's in trouble.

KEVIN MIGHT HAVE TALKED ABOUT IT BUT C'MON, TALK IS TALK. PLUS WE ELECTED A GUY WHO DIDN'T INHALE AN ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE AND ONE WHO SAID HE DABBLED IN DRUGS AS A TEENAGER. IF THE REPUBLIC DIDN'T FAIL BECAUSE OF CLINTON AND OBAMA, (NOT TO MENTION A COLD STONE SOBER GEORGE W.,) THE 11TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT WILL NOT FALL APART JUST BECAUSE KEV MADE WRY REFERENCES TO A TOKE OR TWO OR THREE.

Paul loses a lot of votes with this one. They don't come any more liberal than Kev and his ardent pro-choice stance should rile many of the faithful. I know you liked the health care bill, but it is an expensive band-aid that will wind up being a tourniquet for most. Uncle Paul and Uncle Harry Reid need to pay the price.

It's interesting. Hiring Lynn can't do Kanjo any good politically, only hurt him by pissing off supporters who hated Lynn on the radio (and there are many).

I wonder if Kev really serves "at the pleasure of the Congressman" or if he is somehow now in the federal employment system and will now be difficult, if not impossible, to get off the payroll once Kanjo takes his leave. Otherwise, what did this do but serve as a payoff to a buddy with taxpayer dollars for, in all likelihood, no longer than a couple months?

Hi Dave,
Purely speculation so if you feel like editing I understand
Kevin was started working a few weeks ago. Kanjo's office said check the quarterly reports for his salary.
I'm thinking this wasn't supposed to come out until after the election. I wouldn't be surprised if Kev was tipping back a few an shot off his mouth and someone in the press got wind of this. I don't know, but think about it. No press release until after it was known he was hired. They were unwilling to discuss his compensation. The quarterlies come out after the election.
If Barletta exploits this it will be game over and Barletta will be sworn in in Jan.

Come on Dave. Kevin spoke about it in the present tense. He wrote about it in the present tense. You get all ***ing worked up over welfare moms and other stuff, but you are willing to give an admitted user a pass, especially now that he is working for our Congressman? Come on! He may be qualified, but I would think this sets a horrible example for young people. In a way, via hiring him, Kanjo approves of the use of illegal substances.
